Maybe the move Sorsdal back to OT where he played most of time at school . Gave him a year to just learn difference being a pro an build his body for pro game .
I just don’t know if he’s athletic enough, that was always the problem.

Sorsdal should have redshirted last year, but he ended up playing almost 100 snaps over 2 games last season at LG and a few more than that over 2 other games at RG. He was equally atrocious at both positions, according to PFF. If they had trained him enough to throw him into the fire at both positions last year, surely he’s preparing to play both sides again. He’s gotta be better, right? IIRC, they switched him after about 2 weeks in training camp to the right side for at least a few days.

Here’s something from the fog of my memory banks. As the 91 season was coming together and the line began to gel, Russ Thomas planned to merchandise the Lions Offensive Line as “The Road Crew” in the same fashion as Washington’s Hogs. Then Utley got paralyzed and Andolsek got killed and those plans got permanently mothballed.
IR is the great equalizer. Injuries happen every year. The only difference is we won’t be scouring the streets for replacements.

I think this signals Sorsdal’s ceiling is backup. He’s capable of backing up multiple positions, but I don’t think they anticipate him having the ceiling that Manu and Mahogany have.
Position - Starter/Backup
LT - Decker/Sewell
LG - Glasgow/Mahogany
C - Ragnow/Glasgow
RG - Zeitler/Manu
RT - Sewell/Manu
Sorsdal competes with Manu for 2nd team duty at RT and RG this year, but the athleticism wins out and Manu’s starting next year at RG and Sorsdal is 2nd team RG/RT.
