Interesting. I was hoping for Davius Richard since his college - North Carolina Central - and Brad’s alma mater - North Carolina A&T - are such fierce rivals they have their own wikipedia page. I assumed Brad would know all about him.

But of course he knows all about a bunch of other guys too. I’ve never heard of Peterson but I’m always all for taking cheap chances on athletic, strong-armed QBs. Especially ones who are 6’4.

There’s gonna be some real camp battles to make the 53. If Kingsley does show he belongs in the NFL, but he’s relegated to the PS, he won’t last long. Just like we got Awosika from a stacked OL room in Philadelphia. Could we drop Awosika or Sorsdal? Maybe with Da Wood in town… Maybe we’ll keep everyone the old fashion way, mysterious injuries…

OL is gonna be a bona fide dogfight. I’d honestly hate to lose any of Sorsdal, Awosike, Hudson or Eguakun yet. We need more time with them. And I guess Galvin too though I know much less about how he’s coming along.

I’m fine with moving on from Awosike.

And OL is a smart focus of your UDFA spend. I’d imagine that far more UDFA OL make it compared to say RB or whatever.

I think OL and RB are both pretty high. Especially interior OL. Conversely how many UDFA WRs can you remember who had good careers? Thielen. Welker. Rod Smith. That’s about all I can think of.

He was solid in spot starts last year, I hope he stays

I wish I could claim that excuse

Perhaps RB was the wrong position. It just seems like there are quite a few useful UDFA OL. Especially on the interior.

For sure, teams are littered with them.

Usually we only keep 8 Olinemen I believe.

Decker
Rags
GG
Zeitler
Sewell
Manu

Those 6 are locks. I’d think Sorsdal and Mahogany would have a slight edge over the others for spots 7 and 8. Not gonna be easy for Skipper and Awosike to make it. Good problem to have.

Surely we’ll keep at least 9 this year. @CuriousHusker thought me might actually keep ten. Will be fascinating to watch. Good problem to have.

If true then isn’t Galvin as swing tackle a certainty. Or Skipper or a replacement of those two.

So:
Starting Five
Swing Tackle
MoHogs
ManU

The above are certainties IMO. Then is it one of our two of the following:

Sorsdal, Ayisoke, 3UDFA OCs.

I’d be pretty surprised. IMO he showed enough to think this is a pro on the early part of his developmental curve. You mentioned cross training him at Center.

But with the UDFA centers, doesn’t this behavior suggest that they are looking to groom a young backup Center?

Yep, I think you’re right about all of that if we’re looking at Manu as a RG. I still think we’re probably hoping to play him there for awhile then maybe move him to RT when Decker’s gone, but that’s a problem for down the road. Training him as a RG is his quickest path to the field.

And yeah, unlikely they’re cross-training Sorsdal at C given the way we’ve spent our resources. He’s gonna have to make it as a guard too. Which is interesting cause I think he’s RG only as well (maybe he can play RT in a pinch, but man the athleticism at that spot would plummet).

I agree. Get him onto the Right Side. Penei can mentor him and then when Decker moves on you slide Penei out to Left and kick Manu out.
