They are letting him develop and saving him for the 2nd half of the season. He will be a weapon soon like St. Brown was the 2nd half of 2021.
Lions haven’t needed him too much so far with Gibbs and Monty.

We have a hard enough time feeding the mouths out there as it is…just knowing he is in the wings is awesome.

I think we’ll use him some in the passing game at some point this year. Not a ton but I think it’s likely that we’re doing so hunting a big play.

Mostly as a FB or being a lead blocker type.
I like what I see and I’m expecting more. I really expected us to have some more designed plays. I do think their coming.
I think they want him to learn protections and blitz pick-ups before turning him loose.

7 offensive snaps so far, but given the health and the quality of Gibbs and Montgomery, the fact that we haven’t blown anyone out yet so there’s not been much chance to give backups a run out, and how new Vaki is to being on offense, I don’t think that’s a major surprise or disappointment. Reynolds also only has 7 snaps on offense.
He’s played 66% of ST snaps and has one major positive play (fake punt) and no major errors so I think he’s doing fine there.
He’s one for the future, but as with other players on the roster we need to be patient as he develops, and learns a new position.

I am confused here.
We want Vaki to get more reps? Because why? Seriously, is he better than Gibbs or Monty? OR for that matter do we know he is better than CR?
I get loving the backup goaltender but this feels overboard crazy to me. You have 2 Pro-Bowl RBs rotating right now and we are thinking to give the guy who played mostly Safety in college the ball and design the offense around him…so he can have a few plays?
I would prefer the OC work on getting plays with both Gibbs and Monty on the field to further stress the defense.
And let be very clear. There is NO PLAY that I would rather have Vaki carry or catch the ball over Gibbs or Monty.
So what you are saying is design plays for Vaki because you think the defense will never see a ball going his way and maybe just allow him to run free on a wheel route or run a quick inside trap play because Vaki is back there and no way the Lions would give him the ball?
Once again I will state that us fans get sideways quickly when we do not have a game to breakdown. The bye week insanity has struck again.

Fair points… But with the way Kalif is being phased out of the offense, barely getting any snaps I could see Vaki used more in the passing game in coming weeks. Was a slot WR in high school. He definitely aint getting RB reps over Monty and Gibbs. Great depth though.

Vaki is a 4 phase Special teams player.
He is RB4 and should never get a snap before Gibbs or Montgomery.
People are on here complaining about Montgomery not getting enough touches as it is. Vaki is depth for injury.
As for slot.
Just because he played slot in high school doesn’t make him a better slot than Kalif or I. Williams.
Next someone will bring up Safety.
Let the man play Special Teams as he was drafted to do.
He is at best a 3rd or 4th Emergency option at any other position.
All fair. But with Ben Johnson and Dan Campbell don’t be surprised is all I’m saying. Sewell, Decker and Skipper have all caught passes… St.Brown throwing td passes. Jack Fox dialling up passes. You never know who might be making the next crazy play. Craig Reynolds scored a TD in the playoffs last year with Monty and Gibbs both active. Tom Kennedy throwing TD’s

I do not think people are complaining. More like wondering.
We felt highly enough of the guy that we selected him in round 4. In comparison we took ARSB in round four too. So expectations are higher than a bench warmer.
The Lions let it known they planned to use him on ST and on offense so people are wondering about that. The Lions saw him as a ST/RB/Gadget player type. So far we’ve been using him mostly as a FB so expectations are we will be giving him some touches at some point.
With Monty and Gibbs were in no rush to give him snaps but at some point he will be getting snaps. It’s coming.

I feel like he’s going to contribute on offense at some point… perhaps the postseason. Not where he’s taking snaps from Sonic and Knuckles, but in some other FB/H-Back/Slash type snap or two.
