Rivers over Canady for me.
Canady would be my 3rd or 4th choice. Really like Wheatley a ton but Rivers should be a great nickel that can play outside in a pinch.

It’s very close, yeah. I have them in the same tier, I just really love Canady’s mental makeup and I think that will put him over the top for our brass too, which I admit influences my decision. But you’re right that Rivers can probably play outside where Canady is pretty much slot only. Even though Canady is a little bigger, actually.
I would have gone JC Davis if we didn’t get Fano
Canady could play a Thomas Harper style of safety IMO. Better coverage chops but the same size limitation if he’s back there.
This is a pretty deep RB class and come round 4 it’s very possible the BPA is a RB.
It’s also a good spot to get a rotational player for the DL.
However I think we could look for a S or Slot CB around this area.
I look at our needs and our draft picks and I’m really struggling to fill the gaps especially at LBer….. I feel like we will look to add a LBer no later than round 5 but I can’t seem to find a player I like that meets the value on the board.
Personally I think it’s a terrible class, and would just as soon avoid it altogether. 4th rounders this year would be 5/6th rounders most years. I think it’s just the dearth of options everywhere that’s making it seem deep. I mean we only have to go back a couple of years to see Bucky Irving, Will Shipley, Ray Davis, Guerendo and Braelon Allen going in the 4th and Tyrone Tracy and Isaiah Davis going in the 5th. Those guys would grade out as 2-3rd rounders in this class. At least they do for me.
It’s actually one of the theoretically deeper classes, but because of that, and because the class overall is weak, all of them are getting pushed way up the board. By this point yeah, it’s bleak. I like Fisher fine but I’m not sure he’s the type the FO will want to be our WILL
Thank you for the reminder about Pacheco, I forgot about him. Went back and switched my pick from Penn State RB-who should be a very good pro, to the Indiana LB
Went with Durant. Think he could he a solid backup at DT
The combine invite was 21 and last year they invited 24.
The big difference is this draft has a bunch that are expected to go in the mid rounds.
Meaning the strength of the RB class is in the mid rounds. So I obviously think it’s possible the BPA is a RB. I just think it’s unlikely we would go that route.
I think we have bigger needs that are more likely to be addressed here.
Like a rotational DB, or DL. Maybe even a TE.
Safety or a slot CB is where I am leaning personally.
Agree… Bummed Taaffe went a few picks earlier
Good spot for VJ Payne
He gone too

I think that’s more of a reflection of the class overall. Which yes, means a RB might technically be one of the higher-ranked options, but not due to their individual profile, but the weakness of the class around them. That’s the wrong way to do it imo, you’re better off taking the better overall player who drops die to the strength of the class than vice versa.
I mean just watching their tape, it’s a bunch of uninteresting guys. Mike Washington is a 6/7th round player who’s getting glazed all the way up to day 2. It’s madness

That’s why I went Canady
That’s the risk I take anytime I open my mouth or pick up a pen.
I asked AI what I would pick based on my posting history.
Davicus would probably lean toward value and depth rather than forcing a “need” pick, especially since the Lions’ roster is talented and Holmes often targets athletic, high-upside guys who can contribute on special teams or as rotational pieces early.
Most probable response (paraphrased in his voice):
"I’d go with Kaytron Allen at RB here if he’s still there. Gibbs is a stud but we know the workload conversation is real long-term, and with Vaki mostly special teams so far and Pacheco on a one-year deal, a pass-proving back like Allen (Monty 2.0 vibes) gives cheap depth and insurance without killing value in round 4.
If not him, one of the CBs like Chandler Rivers or Zakee Wheatley at S—secondary depth is never a bad idea with how injuries hit. But RB feels like the sneaky good fit right now. Holmes has shown he doesn’t mind taking ‘luxury’ depth when the board falls that way.
Thoughts on Allen’s tape? Anyone have RAS/KCS numbers on these guys?"
Brock Wright is in the final year of his contract, LaPorta’s back is a question, and Tyler Conklin has zero guaranteed money. So I selected TE Justin Joly, NC State. He has good receiving chops, pass blocks well, and gets in the way but not much more in run blocking. An offseason in an NFL weight room should do wonders for Joly who turns 22 in July.
that meets the value on the board.
just need a guy there that isn’t a human lump and can actually play/ make plays IMO.
Canady’s an easy guy to love, I agree with Lance this time.
