You don’t like the Washington CBs nearly as much as he does tho
Davis was the last cut. The 21st guy. Prycock wasn’t in consideration cause I was using the consensus rankings and he was much further down
There plenty of options in this years TE class. I think there’s a real possibility the Lions could look to draft one but I’m leaning that way in rounds 5 or later. I think it’s more likely we look for a project than a starter.
When you look at Holmes past drafts he tends to take players on both sides of the ball. The Lions only needs on offense are TE, OL and RB. So I expect us to draft a couple players on offense.
Luke Lachey from last years class is currently TE5 on Texans depth chart
Id like to snag him for TE4 for us and use our picks elsewhere in the draft.

Lee and Neal were the last of the outside CBs to go early in the 4th before our pick. The good safeties were gone before round 4 even started. We need to move up if we want guys that can play.
I think Canady and Rivers are good slot options, and if Risdon’s right they really like Rakestraw as an outside guy. IF that works out, what a bonus that would be. Of course he’s still not that long press guy, but it makes taking the talent - which imo is at slot/nickel at this point - more palatable.
I am highly expecting us to take a player who can play the slot.
It would be nice if that player is a down hill presence who can also play safety if needed.
The nice thing about slot CB’s is you can find good options in the later rounds. Surprisingly Brad tends to grab his CB’s earlier and doesn’t tend to draft projects. This year that may change…. Especially if we double dip at DB.
Interesting that you see it like this.
For me, we have Roger McCreary who is a good NB. Branch should be moved back to NB when he’s back from Achilles. Former 2nd rounder Rakestraw coming back from double injury. And if we resign Maddox, he’s played well there at times.
All we have at outside CB behind starters is Rock & Whiteside.
I’d like to find a CB that can play outside…hopefully take over for Reed in 2 years.
I’d also like to find another true ball hawk FS.
Are you talking about this draft or most drafts? I see Rivers and Canady as the last of the slot CBs who are likely to make a roster and they will be gone before the end of round 4.
I’m guessing we will need 1 this year after we lose the first 3 guys before we even get to the bye week. I guess it is possible that we don’t have any injuries in the CB room for the next 2 years but I’m not betting on it.
Those S that tackle like LBs and can blitz & cover
Branch, Pitre, Emmanwori
All went round 2.

There are a bunch of good DBs CBs and Ss that will go day 1 and 2. If you want one go get one. I am all for moving down in the 1st and up with both 4s.
I think you’ll be surprised how far a few of them fall. Of course the odds of Brad then choosing that guy who fell are pretty slim, but I’d be surprised if there weren’t a few good options.
I just don’t see any of the position groups being strong enough to push those DBs down. In the first 2 days you might have 2 QBs and 2 RBs.
Yeah, me either, but most years when it happens it’s with guys I don’t expect to push them down either. It’s usually a surprise. Like last year Hyppolite, Trapilo, TeSlaa, Broughton, Nick Martin, Pat Bryant, Justin Walley, Ransaw, Dillon Gabriel, and Caleb Rogers were almost never mocked on the first two days and Anthony Belton, Demetrius Knight, Nohl Williams, Jamaree Caldwell, Emery Jones, Jaylin Smith were only sometimes mocked there. Every year is pretty similar.
Is B. Boettcher LB from Oregon still available? Dont see him
He is, yes, he was one of my final cuts. This list was originally 40, and I cut it to 20 mostly using their consensus rankings, and there are a couple of boards part of that consensus with Boettcher ranked very low. Like UDFA low. Others have him in this range, but overall he came in on the lower side for those 40 guys so I removed him from the list. He’ll probably still be there by our next pick, maybe he’ll make that list.
Yea my average had him JUST outside that range.
But i like fisher. Definitely a worthy anzalone replacement
None of them are good enough in coverage for what I want in a WILL, but then neither was AA when he was coming out. It’s an area of a LB’s game that typically improves in the league. It is just very difficult to say which one of these MIKEs - and most of the off-ball options are better MIKE options wright now - will develop enough coverage chops to hold up at WILL. Rodrigo hasn’t yet, though I suspect he’ll get a shot, and he went into college as a safety.
OK since we haven’t had a vote in 12 hours, I’m making an executive decision and assigning us Zakee Wheatley, S, Penn State. Yes, he and Allen were tied, but I’m doing all the work so that’s the way it’s gonna go. No RBs!
Should I mock it out to our next pick (maybe Allen is still around)? It’s only ten away, but only 31 total votes… If anyone’s interested let me know. I still have the whole draft saved in a sim.
