We knew we had a good offense, but with Hutchinson already injured, we understood that we needed to be super aggressive at the trade deadline—especially since we had a strong chance to win the Super Bowl. One poster mentioned that Sheila is miser; if that’s true, it’s unfortunate, especially given how much they’ve increased prices for Lions fans. I’m really impressed with Brad Holmes, but if Sheila is holding him back, that’s not a good sign. Clearly, we need better linebacker and cornerback depth.
Why! There isn’t a person who could have forecasted the injuries we would have on defence and especially to the front 7 we have had.
There are very few teams that could be so severely hit at two positions and continued to play how we have. You talk about how we should have had more depth at these positions but it’s not realistic because we have limited roster spots and NOBODY has that type of depth!
Think the most comparable team to us injury wise is the 49ers…and we are performing at a much better level then they are and that is a testament to Holmes…and Sheila allowing him to do his job!
This BS narrative that they haven’t done enough is such a lame and lazy take! Stop with the sky is falling chicken little
There is no one to blame for this except lady luck.
We just need to accept it.
Don’t get so caught up with an unknowable end that you miss the journey—and a helluva journey it’s been (and continues to be!).
With Hutch, Davenport, and Barnes all clearly out for the season at the trade deadline, I really wanted Brad to try to add two players…Smith was a great pick up, but it still left the D front 7 thin, especially if there were to be any more injuries…which there CLEARLY are with AA and Rodrigo, and now Alim. Maybe Brad did try to do more, but couldnt get anything done ![]()
Lols dude you been waiting for 12 games to do the I told you so crap. And there wasn’t anyone that was gonna help stop Allen. A healthy Lions team wasn’t gonna stop him yesterday.
Everyone would’ve been jumping from the rafters had we signed Max Crosby. Look how that would’ve played out. As has already been said, no one could have predicted the continued loss of players due to injury that we have suffered. It’s not like we are finished. Our offense will just have to take a more of the load. We can outscore teams. We went up against the number two offense in the league and our battered defense struggled. We also lost by only seven points. It happens. No need to risk the future by trying to patch it together just for this year.
Name me one team who has had this bad of luck? Your post is dumb. NO team, including KC, has the depth to deal with 16 defensive players who are on IR.
Hey…zadarius had a tackle yesterday we’re good
I do wish threads created by muted members would automatically be muted.

I am not talking about bringing players like Crosby who is already injured ,but some utility players could have been added …Holmes is good in finding utility players
You are forgetting a key part. You have roster limits. You can’t have a 70 man roster and practice squad for additional depth. For every player added, you have to let one go. Meaning it’s a 1-1 swap. If the guy you traded for depth gets hurt, you are right back in the same spot. The depth the Lions needed at the deadline is different than the depth they need now. They needed a DE to replace Hutch’s spot, and got Zadarius. After the deadline, it was our linebackers that got hurt. Now we are short at DT.
There isn’t much else you can do other than keep poaching practice squads, which is exactly what we’ve been doing. Even that poses issues with roster management because any player you take from the PS has to stay on your roster for a few weeks.
Baby, you had a whole year to improve your trolling, and you have gone backwards. What’s wrong with you? I’m so disappointed. ![]()
Holmes should have traded for 19 defensive players to cover our injuries.
The guy is clearly a problem.
And then there will always be someone saying he should’ve gotten 20 guys!
Exactly. You get it. ![]()
Haha seriously though you have a 53 man roster, you can’t trade for extra guys at the deadline in anticipation of Alim snapping his acl, Rodrigo snapping his acl, Anzalone breaking his arm. and Davis breaking his jaw. There are roster limitations. Hence the practice squad player acquisitions. All those serious injuries happened after the deadline
Garrett, Crosby, Parsons for sure. Unsure what he was thinking.
Like who exactly? And what compensation would you have been willing to give up?
Why don’t you rename the thread title to: Its Brads Fault!
If Brad somehow would have got Crosby he’d have a broken leg by now to go with his bad ankle.
