We've called about Carl Granderson?

This guy works for crappy Woodward Sports so take this with a major grain of salt.

That would require the 4 probably, right? Maybe a late pick back.

One thing about granderson and smith is they arent true rentals and also dont significantly impact our ability to resign our guys… would be interesting at least

Please let this be true

Getting Granderson would allow us to not have to use a 1 on a DE

if true

I would be fine with Granderson and honestly

would mean that EDGE is not a need in draft this year

Prolly means we go WR and OL with round 1 and 2 picks if i had to guess

sounds good, but if it’s only sam flannel or whatever saying it, I’m not gonna get my hopes to high

and imagine the line next year. good lord.

This is the guy I want the Lions to get of the realistic moves left. Fairly young, signed to term. Get 'er done

He would make ton of sense. He would be our Davenport replacement with Smith being our Hutch replacement.

This allows us to run our dline like they had envisioned.

I’ve never seen a team as desperate for cap relief as the Saints, though I’m not sure how much trading Granderson gives them. At least not in 2025 when they really need it. I’ve seen a couple of cases where trading guys could actually cost them more lol. I know they only save 400K by trading Lattimore.

What a shit show their cap is. Loomis should be fired just for letting it get to that state.

Footage of Curious feverishly searching the internet for evidence of people with the first name Granderson.

I think they would just want the picks. They’re three years from being decent again. Honestly AG should get assurances of a timeline of job security or say no.

Would be a great move. I’d still double down with DE and interior OL in 25 draft and this team would be rock freaking solid

Dude had 8.5 sacks last on pace for that again. Soild with the run. On contract for another season as well. Bring him in for our 4th

Lions will get a 3RP for Glenn in 2025 right?

Right picks is about the only thing they can hope for… and as Solak says in his latest piece, unless they want to keep kicking the Carr can down the road - because he’s about the only possible restructure they can still do to get legitimate relief - they need to trade him now. And they’ll probably have to do an Osweiler-esque deal where they include a 2nd or 3rd rounder to get it down.

If they do restructure Carr, it’s gonna be that much harder to attract a coach. Tough situation.

Reasons it makes sense:

  • We have the cap space both this year and in 2025 to take on his contract
  • Dan and AG both know the player from their time in New Orleans
  • The Saints look like they’re (finally) going to tear things down and sort out their cap mess

If this happens, and I am mindful that the source is questionable to say the least, then that’s us going pretty heavily in on 2024 and 2025 before the Goff, St Brown, Sewell, McNeill and Decker cap hits begin to bite in 2026, although all of those contracts have a high degree of flexibility to reduce cap numbers.

Basically, this is do-able if the draft pick compensation aligns.

And this is the magic of BH. He goes into the draft with a solid roster so he can freely attack the best player available mantra. Focus on getting his kind of player verses taking who is available at a position of desperation. He seems like he is clowning this league with his roster building greatness.

And Olave may be heading towards a Chris Borland type retirement.
