Seeing posts above from Syd makes me smile, even as my eyes mist up a little.
I keep going further back in the blues to the days before electric instruments. I love hearing the roots of the blues and rock. You hear someone like Blind Willie Johnson who helped define the sound of the blues for the next generation, finger picking a slide guitar while singing gospel lyrics with a voice so deep and raspy that it makes Lemmy sound high pitched by comparison. Great stuff.
He did most of his recordings in a handful of sessions around 1927. That’s also the only known photograph of him.

I am really impressed and a bit surprised by all the variety of independent and underground music Den mates listen to. I am familiar with some of it, but out of touch with most of it.
I will say, I wish y’all could here what it sounds like here during my morning meditation. I can hear so many different birds. There is a rushing river about 50 yards away. This is the music I am attuned to right now. All the madness of the world goes away and the sounds of the world are alive.
When I was cool, I was into many of the bands on a label that started in Detroit and then moved to Chicago called Touch and Go Records. My buddy was the tour manager for most of them, so it was an endless carnival of crazy.
Didjits, Jesus Lizard. All of Steve Albini’s bands too. What a time.
I’ve been really enjoying The Cure lately which is kind of odd as that was the favorite band of my very first girlfriend and I didn’t really like it at the time. I was very fond of her. She was fun.
