What music have you been listening to lately?

Hilarious if real. What the words to The Lion King song actually mean…

25 years later and still one of the two best jazz drum and bass tracks that I’ve ever heard.

So many memories here. Holy crap. A five-minute walk from the tunnel for me and my Windsor friends. I remember buying Shane McGowan a Rolling Rock here and leaving it on the edge of the stage for him. He ambled over and picked it up with a nod and put with the other half dozen he had lined up. Too many great shows to list. What a treasure.

In Puerto Vallarta, been playing some favorite Latin tunes. Forgot all about this one, very different for Kool and not Latin but it’s in rhythm with the waves.

I was never a fan of Kool and the gang but that is a good jam.

Things settled down over there? Stay safe man. I was thinking of checking out PV as a remote work location but recent events have put that on that back burner.

So it was wonky for a couple of days, it actually triggered one cartel to burn down the stores,(OXXO Grocery), of another cartel in PV, not sure how COSTCO figured into it other than it is US based. Local police let it go for about 8 hours and then make a presence to let them know their time is up. It’s a wink and nod, the fighting was with the national guard guys not the locals. In general they don’t make trouble for each other. The cartels employ an estimated 180,000 people in Mexico in both legal and illegal ventures. Last year in Cancun a friend and his wife were walking over to our hotel and had a guy 50 yards away pull a gun and starts shooting at a delivery truck pulling into another hotel. Make no mistake, the cartels are major players in the tourism business and aren’t interested in upsetting how that works or doesn’t. BTW those types of attacks never make the news media. Friends were out fishing when the attack occurred and the boat couldn’t get back to the harbor, they beached it at Tom’s condo but 2 of my friends were staying 5 miles away and paid a guy large to take them there. The “balance” remains in tact and now it’s business as usual and the first cruise ship docked 2 days ago. Going fishing tomorrow, I have some opinions about what could happen but I’ll stay out of the political BS. Planning on booking 2 weeks here next year.

Wow, one organized crime syndicate (cartels) vs. another (gov’t) lol. Too bad, I really like Mexico, always enjoyed being there though it hasn’t been a lot. Seems it would take a full-blown civil war to eradicate the cartels, then they’d just be stuck with the corrupt officials lol. Weirdly, the global trade agreement system that’s being torn apart had strict anti-corruption rules for participating countries and the general trend had been less and less corruption though still a long ways to go. Now that’s been blown up around world and the setbacks are huge. The world is becoming the wild west again.

It wasn’t another cartel, those stores don’t pay protection.

2 of their stores and a large pharmacy in a 2 block area.

Also missed one, but that’s because I guessed that the Australian slang for vagina would not be the title of a Bee Gees song. Wonder how that went over down under!
