What will the Lions do with Ifeatu Melifonwu once Ceedy Duce returns?

Are we really calling him Duce now? Like his jersey is going to say that?

Something about a duce in the lions secondary sounds all too familiar

I mean, I’m happy for Iffy, but he’s played one good game. Let’s talk when Duce actually returns. If Iffy is still playing well, I know an underperforming second year safety that can move to the bench. I actually agree with AG here, ‘Play the best guys.’ Don’t care who they are.

Duce!!!

As long as he’s pulling in the same direction, DET could use a little shizzle-dropping. If it results in sideline drama like you saw from Kerby (?) a few games back, though…

The biggest problem is fan expectation vs likely reality, imo. He’s clearly a playmaker at his best, but how long before you get his best, esp when playoff football is that much more intense ? Again, Weddle was a great story for LAR’s SB run, but more a reliable filler/tackler, not an impact player. Ramsey was an intense leader but relatively un-impactful, a weak link at times, his first half season with LAR because he wasn’t in their flow.

Some seem to think his talent/track record will negate the rust pdq. I think that’s Madden Think . Not fair to him or the team & I doubt DC will be unaware of that.

Of course, Iffy will probably get a MRSA from a dirty ski-mask & & it’ll all be moot.

Yea there will be some rust. But at least it was an upper body injury and not a knee or ankle which is brutal for DB’s

He’s been training and running for several weeks now so hopefully not much rust

Once CJGJ has his land legs back, I’d start him over Kerby and leave Iffy right where he is. Kerby has been late or out of position week after week and he’s not making plays on the ball like he did last year. This defense needs turnovers to compensate for the lack of a pass rush and poor coverage down the field. I like Kerby and still think he has a bright future, but for this year I’m putting the ballhawk and the more reliable Iffy out there before him.

Interesting choice of words.

Definitely could have a HUGE impact , to mix my sports, as a pinch hitter. It’s a nice problem to have, for sure. Still, I don’t think you’ll see much from him until the finale. DC has never been one to rush guys back, has he ?

Moronic oxen, for sure. Like military intelligence or humble Pats fan.

I don’t know if Joseph and Iffy bring different things to the table, but I don’t know why this is being discounted as a possibility. If CJGJ had stayed healthy, it would have been him and Joseph, right? But if Iffy has the same skill set as Joseph, and is playing better in practice, then the logical combination would be CJGJ and Iffy, not CJGJ and Joseph.

Realistically, I think we will see them trot out all three, sometimes together, with CJGJ getting limited snaps until he’s back in game shape.

Kirby probably just played his best game of the year. Is it coincidence it came when Walker and Jacobs were on the bench? I don’t think so. Many of those plays he was late on may have not even been his assignment and was looking to cover for the weak links back there.

I think Iffy continues to play a significant role over the next few weeks while CGJ gets his legs back. Hoping he can stay healthy.

As sticky as he was in coverage on some of those plays he defended, you kinda wonder why they didn’t just leave him at corner.

Play a sh!t ton of dime if necessary. We don’t have enough good players to be sitting a good one (if Iffy continues his ascension).

I read an article yesterday, where in an interview with Glenn, he said the best players are going to play.

imho, that means Ceedy, and Iffy at safety. Branch at nickle.

Kerby may be losing some snaps.
