What would you do in this scenario?

Don’t let @LineBusy anywhere near your wife… He looks like Fabio… Ladies can’t resist him. :joy:

Someone you could leave as a stand up rusher? Or a player that could rush from the 9?
Maybe I do need to watch more.

Cleaning Up Magic Mike GIF by ADWEEK

I’m an absolute sucker for guys who play tall, at the LOS, always near the ball. It’s why I expect good things from Strickland. When he’s out there, he’s seeing the field and near the ball.

If we boiled down DEs to 2 types, I’d say:
Ends With Bend
No-Bend Ends

I feel we are in desperate need of an End With Bend, even if that pushes us all the way through tweener territory clear into OLB territory. If JTT is a No Bend End like Pasch, he’s not what we need most. (IMO)

I would ask Brad what to do… he would say BPA… Malachi Starks. Kerby gets traded for a more beans. LOL

I think he’s got more bend than Paschal but it won’t be the main way he wins. He’s very strong and pretty agile, but I don’t know that he’s the most explosive guy. If I had to guess, I think he’d test pretty well on the 3-cone and shuttle but average in the jumps/10-yard.

I think he’s also got some of the best instincts in the class. He sniffs out screens and draws like he was in the offensive huddle. For sure I think you’ll get more out of him as a run defender than pass-rusher, but he won’t be only a run defender the way Paschal has been. He’ll rack up plenty of sacks too, especially the second-chance kind opposite Hutch. Maybe even a few seasons of 10+, but he’s more like a 7/8 per season guy.

For the record, I’ve given up on player types for the time being. There’s just too much variability on little things that make these guys both similar and yet drastically different at the same time.

In this class, he just feels the most like the type of guy we’ve been looking for across from Hutch. Now does that change now that there’s been so much upheaval on the staff? Possible. Some of our insiders are suggesting as much.

Scourton has put the biggest smile on my face.
Followed by Pearce, JTT, Swinson, and Ezeiruaka.

I was all in on him last offseason, but he’ll have some tough questions to answer about the way this season ended for him. There’s at least a possibility our FO is out on him, if he was really checked out.

Cuts both ways though. If we do draft him in the first I’ll be pretty excited bc that means that he checked out on that front. It’s just so odd bc he was seemingly a lunch pail type at Purdue.

Yep. I felt the same way about Rakestraw last year. I had some concerns, but I know they’ve got much more access to the info than I do, so when they took him I figured they were unfounded. I’d feel the same about Scourton.

I also feel the same way about Mike Green. I still think his tape makes him edge2, but the red flags are pretty glaring. But what if we believe him? What if we dig into it and decide he’s telling the truth? Because I know he works hard, his teammates love him, coaches, etc… When it comes to football, he’s our kind of guy. But those charges… I suspect we’ll avoid him, but of the character red flag guys, he’s the one I can see us liking the most.

Nic is down to 265, thinks he should play at 260-265, but has played at 285 for both A&M and Purdue. Explains the speed, kinda. 260 lb Edge in an Edgar suit.

The issue for me - and I suspect for our FO - is more about his late-season disappearance, which A&M fans say is due to him checking out so he didn’t get hurt. I don’t know that it’s true, but it will have to be vetted for sure. It lines up with the tape and the numbers, and the fact that he skipped their bowl game. If true, I doubt we take him at all. Whether it’s true or not is the question.

I thought you veered off into b-ball…
I can’t believe how little I know this year about any prospect. Guess this is what happens when you trust your GM and pick so low.

I believe Brad would take best player in this scenario and I believe best player would either be Josh Simmons or Malaki Starks. Simmons would slot in at LG and be an immediate upgrade over Glasgow. Then he moves to LT in 2027 when Decker is done. That’s planning for the future like a villain.

Starks is interesting. Heard Jeremiah mention Ed Reed vibes from a couple of his NFL contacts. He may not be Reed but he is a Brian Branch level secondary piece, can play deep halves or slot and is a menacing run defender. For a team that gave up a lot of big plays late in the season, you could do worse.

Simmons has top ten tape but man, the history of guys returning from torn patellar tendons is really bleak.

Just now learning it was patella. Assumed it was ACL. A shame because to me, his film reminds of Trent Williams. Freaky athletic traits, unusual power, heavy hands. Really really like the kid as a prospect. Too bad the knee is in another category of unknowns.

Revel is one of 5 potential unicorns in this draft IMO. But I just can’t project him off the incredible traits beyond what he is right now to my satisfaction. He looks like Jalen Ramsey running around out there. But Ramsey was 21 and had more runway for development. Revel will be 24 on draft day. The one positive in his favor regarding additional upside would be the level of coaching and training he would’ve received at East Carolina vs an SEC or BigTen powerhouse. He may ascend considerably through the first few years of his NFL career because of that. But he’ll be 29 heading into his 5th year option…and the knee might slow his first year progression if he misses OTA’s and mini camps.
