Where does Anthony Richardson get drafted?

Just remember the old wisdom…there is no such thing as a 2nd round QB to many talent evaluators. If you ever get to an initial 2nd round grade you keep watching film until you convince yourself that he is a 1st round prospect or knock him down to a 3rd rounder. People can mock that wisdom all they want, but that is where we are at with AR15.

Who knows, but I’m guessing some of those ( I mentioned some) voting top 10 also had Malik Willis top 10…be honest now

It’s a never ending pattern, upside is fine…but at the end of the day, can he process NFL Ds?

I voted 3rd rd

I was never a Willis guy. Even early on I was skeptical.
Mostly bc he played at Falwell’s school but I digress.

Richardson’s tools are WAY louder than Willis. And he shows a burgeoning curiosity of how pros play the position. He’s no doubt a ways off but he’s MUCH closer than Willis.

The difference is the fans and the media had Willis in the top 10. The NFL had him in the 3rd round. This year the media has him in the top 10. The fans are divided. But the NFL has him in the top ten as well. They are not the same. Also watch what the odds do after the combine, his odds to be the number 1 pick have already moved up dramatically the last couple of days.

I see what you did there, ever consider a career in News reporting?

Sez who?

Your inside contacts?

C’mon man!

Dude has one year as a starter with a less than 54% completion rate

I guess we’ll just see

I mean it’s Liberty. You can’t tell me in a very short amount of time that Liberty is both relevant in football AND their QB id going in the top 3. It all happened so fast. “Wait Liberty is a REAL football program now.”

And that it was all possible bc the evangelist forgave the guy that hired escorts on a University’s dime. Beautiful.

C’mon man yourself. So mock’s and talking heads aren’t talking about him rising? Watch the Combine. If the NFL isn’t high on him then you will start to see him slip and go to teams later in the round.

People have to explore the why’s to his 54%. It is an issue but it just seems like everyone is checking his stat on ESPN and basing their opinions on that. But ignoring the things that might contribute. He is a huge gamble…but apparently worth it to some.

Well, don’t know what to tell you. I have a proven track record to this point. Believe what you want.

The nfl is a reactionary league. There will be reaches trying to find the next mahomes,
Allen, jackson, etc… usually those reaches dont work out.

I agree. But that also means there will be people trying to say the next Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen is Malik Willis too though.

The list of QBs drafted in round 1, with sub 55% completion percentages is telling.

The list of QBs under 6’ and 195 drafted in round 1 is zero.

Thats2- you are adamant we have differing beliefs on how to build a SB winner, but I don’t think we do actually. I think we all believe that an elite QB gives you the best chance to win, so long as that QB has pieces around him, and great coaching and scheme on both sides of the ball….

I’m just less willing to “gamble” on what might be an elite QB… I personally believe that the QBs in this draft have ceilings far close to Goff than Mahomes. Ceilings… not likely outcomes.

They say AR15 “has no ceiling?” What does that really mean? Because he’s big, fast, and has a cannon he can be better than Mahomes?? Brady? There are plenty of DEs who had an unlimited ceiling like Clowney, or WRs like CRog, but in the real world everyone has a ceiling.

If QB came down to just physical traits, then Calvin Johnson would have played QB. He was bigger, ran faster, and jumped higher than everyone else.

Actually we did have a QB like that, and he did pretty well for a while, his name was Daunte Culpepper. He was 255 lbs, ran a 4.52, 39" vertical, 6’4" height, and also completed 73.6% of his passes in his draft year. By god if such a QB came along like that now, this board would have a jerkoff fest, and he would surely be mocked as the 1st overall pick in every single mock draft. But back then, they cared if you could play QB too. Somewhere we forgot that QB is more than these traits. But it’s as true today as it ever has been, probably more so.

@QBHATER90 was saying last year that the NFL guys had Malik as a 3rd round grade.
Now, how he knew that I have no idea because he’s buddies with Jeff Risdon and Risdon predicted Malik to be drafted in the top 10.
Hey @QBHATER90, why were you right and Risdon was so wrong?

Ooofa, now looking again, for someone who is supposedly tied-into the NFL guys, Risdon whiffed horribly on Willis and Jermaine Johnson.

Except both Mahomes and Allen had many more CFB starts, with far better results than AR

AR had 1 starting season

Best comp is Wentz

Huh. When you factor in quality of competition Allen was actually far worse.

Against power five schools Allen #s were abysmal.

48/96 427 yards 1 TD and 8 picks

Overall his numbers were quite similar albeit against much worse competition.

Allen

Is the above, his performance against higher quality of play, a precurser to how Allen fares when it comes to his regular season and post season play in the NFL?

Josh Allen completely remade himself. Richardson needs to completely remake his footwork. In some other ways he’s significantly further along then Allen. I have no idea if AR can make the necessary changes to flourish.

All of the QBs are gambles in their own way.

So who voted UDFA?

2nd round. He’s this years Malik.

No disagreement that he has a ton of potential. Just will need a lot of work

Was reading in an article about his smart Allen is and what a great football mind he has. We don’t really know what’s between the ears or AR

Allen also played in a more pro offense in college being under center and calling his own line alerts. He didn’t stare down and lock onto one receiver like AR tends to and showed the ability to throw with more touch and placement

When I look at tape of AR he throws ever ball like it’s a missile and way too often doesn’t even see underneath receivers wide open because he locks onto the deep guy. That he misses half the time
