Blizzard is bringing back HOTS. I haven’t played in 8-10 months but they started patching, updating and fixing bugs again. I’m not sure if they are continuing. They actually brought back the Mines right before I quit.
I still think HOTS runs better and smoother than any MOBA. I can’t do league of legends anymore. Lol
I don’t care for lane maps in smite but if you haven’t tried arena you may actually enjoy that. I think the 3rd person view works pretty well in that map since you can basically see the entire map from base.
This speaks to me. I haven’t officially been diagnosed with ADHD or Aphantasia. I have a difficult time visualizing with books as well. Although I’m reading Dungeon Crawler Carl series and those are much easier for me to read.
Narrative games are still hard for me to follow every little thing, but that doesn’t mean I still don’t enjoy it. Have you tried Disco Elysium? I haven’t beat it yet but it’s very interesting to see where the story branches out from every answer/decision.
Skyrim was really fun until I got my sneak and archer skills so high I could take out entire areas without getting seen. I got bored pretty quickly after that.
I’m not going to say how much time I have /played on my WoW account because it’s embarrassing. But I failed out of college my first go around in 2005 because of WoW and I still play it today…sooooo. lol. I am eagerly looking forward to the Classic+ announcement Blizzard had better be making at Blizzcon this year.
I’ve soured on D&D over the years. I love the roleplaying aspect of TTRPGs, but I find combat to be a slog and I feel like most people want to do combat. I’ve started getting into Daggerheart and it’s been a decent enough change from D&D campaigns. Though, I’d prefer a system that had little to no combat at all, honestly.
yea that’s my issue with dnd. the combat is painful and the’re at the stage where they’re fighting harder and harder things so combat can take multiple sessions. ugh.
that’s why I like warhammer fantasy combat. it’s brutal and pretty quick. you should look that up, especially 1st edition.
Been playing BG3 with a 3rd person mod on pc, and it’s a totally different, and awesome, experience. Also started the Metro games in spring, finished the first two, and just starting the third one, Exodus…these games are really good and intense…figured I’d play them as there’s a fourth one coming out in 2027 sometime, so I’ll be all caught up.
Games I’m looking forward to coming out soon- the Xcom-like Star Wars Zero Company (looks amazing), Control Resonant, and Phantom Blade Zero…with my eye on Blood of the Dawnwalker
I have both ADHD and severe Aphantasia. I can’t even generate blurry images when I focus. In fact, I thought it was insane when I found out that people can actually see shit when they “picture an apple in their head”. I thought it was just an expression. I just see black. Haha.
I have not played Disco Elysium yet, but it is one of my girlfriends favorite games of all time, so it’s on my list. My girlfriend loves it so much she Cosplayed as I think the main guy from the games when she was at PAX a couple of years ago.
I have a friend who has been trying to get me into either 40k or Age of Sigmar and it just seems crazy expensive for something I’m not sure I’d really get into. He’s invited me to go check out an actual tournament, but I’ve never really played a war game like that, so I’m not sure how much I’d like them.
no no, that’s not the same game. always gets confused with each other. 40k is a minitature battle game.
Warhammer fantasy role play is a tabletop DnD style roleplaying game. Just a vastly different combat system that uses percentile dice, hit locations on the body, and amputations if you’re unlucky
I still prefer the old God Of Wars. Those were so brutal, but I found it more raw and the story to me was more interesting. I didn’t really enjoy Ragnarok that much since I felt there was way too much hand holding with the son constantly telling me what to do before I could figure out the puzzle myself.
Ohhhh, I thought you were just talking about the war game of Warhammer that used to just be called Warhammer Fantasy, but now they call Age of Sigmar. haha. Yeah, I’ve never played the Warhammer TTRPG either. The only thing Warhammer I really touched was playing like 10 minutes of a private server for the old Warhammer MMO, which seems cool…but for me it’s always been, if it’s not so much better than WoW, it’s dumb for me to play a different MMO for long term because I have so much time invested in WoW already. Sunk cost fallacy.
oh ya I get it. I love the colors of WoW. Warhammer online was a thing for a minute but didn’t do well. still private servers out there. Same with shadowbane, which let you build cities. pretty neat idea.
star wars galaxies was a friggin blast, could literally play a character that never fires a shot.
Thanks. Bag of Dungeons 2 looks great. He’s going into the fifth grade. Once he gets to Middle School the Y has a Dungeon and Dragons club which I think he’ll enjoy. Bag of Dungeons seems like a great stepping stone for that. I’ll keep an eye out for Sea Beasts.
Yeah, no problem! BoD is a really easy stepping stone into these types of games. I actually have a sealed copy of the original Bag of Dungeon because when I got into it, I accidentally bought two copies of the first when I thought I was buying the first and second and never got around to returning it. also, I used to play magic like, obsessively back in the late 90s. even got myself ranked for a bit, but it was SO expensive to just try and keep up with the formats for tourneys. no thanks.
Wow! I hadn’t heard of that. This might be a strange question, but do you have picture-based memories in your mind? Or is it just when thinking of a new idea that things are ‘black?’
I heard of another guy who has no internal dialogue in his head. Like, the sentences do not form, and he does not play things out in words/sentences within his mind. That was crazy for me, because I have trouble turning my inner voice OFF…
Edit - just read 5th grade… I’ve always loved board games and that’s something my fiancé’s family does often. They introduced me to Blokus, it’s a fun game based on shapes and strategy, the basic version is square, but they play the trigon version and that’s a bit more challenging… But they have 9 and 11 year old that play, so it’s not THAT hard. Also, I was always fond of Spinners, is a lot like dominoes, quick and fun game as well
