Yeah, I didn’t even know this was a thing until maybe like 5 years ago when I came across it randomly because I just thought it was normal because…well, that’s what I lived with. Like I said, I was VERY surprised to hear that people can actually form mental images. As far as memories, no, I can’t really recall memories visually. Basically any memory or “visualization” for me is like reconstructing facts, emotions, feelings, etc. So I can explain things that I remember about a memory, like if I know someone was wearing a blue shirt or something. But I can’t actually visualize the memory in my head. That’s why reading is so meh for me. Instead of getting to experience the world and imagine it in my head, all I can really do is sort and compartmentalize the information so I can recall it later. I think it has had a positive effect on my memory because I have to be good at storing and recalling information to “visualize” things, but at the same time it makes me terrified of things like dementia or amnesia because once that goes, I won’t ever be able to go back to memories haha.
I’ve also heard of people not having an inner monologue, which to me is also crazy because like you, my mind never shuts up. (ADHD a big driver in that). But yeah, I couldn’t imagine not having an inner monologue…because like…how do you think? Though I guess it’s probably how people feel about me when I tell them I can’t visualize things.
I really enjoyed New World, but unfortunately Amazon really ■■■■■■ that up and are sunsetting it. Unfortunately the MMO space is just kind of not in a good spot right now - a lot of games flop and can’t beat out the Big 4/5 and they just cost so much to develop and take so much time that studios don’t want to invest in new ones.
FF14 is probably one of the more popular MMOs on consoles and is more fantasy styled, but it’s not really my flavor-stylistically. Guild Wars 3 is on the horizon, but I am not sure if it will ever make it to consoles since I’m not sure that GW2 ever did?
Elder Scrolls Online is also okay on console. My big thing with that was how clunky and odd the combat felt, but I know they’re in the middle of overhauling it class by class so it may be worth checking out as well.
Though to be honest, I’m a PC guy, so I only know a limited amount of which MMOs have made a mark on consoles.
That’s crazy to me… I personally am able to visualize memories as well as have an internal monolog where I think out problems and solves them “rationally” in my head. A lot of “if/then” goes on in my head throughout the day… I need to be prepared for any scenario I can imagine no matter what it is
Does it work with just two players? When he’s with his buddies he’s usually out and about doing stuff and my wife is unlikely to want to play very often.
I’m not due for an upgrade any time soon since I did right before the big boom, but watching the memory and GPU market explode over the last year or so have been insane. I usually new build every two to three years, but I think this one might be a little bit longer in-between because yeah…ain’t no one need to be paying $500 for 32gb of DDR5, which is the bare minimum I’d run in a gaming/workstation build. Who even knows what the next generation of GPUs will cost with NVidia saying they’re going to focus less on consumer cards. Just a bad time to be needing to upgrade/build.
@CuriousHusker we are very big on table tops in our house.
At your kids age we did do stratego. This led to risk and axis and allies. We also from Pre K onward have played chess. There are more life lessons than can be imagined in that game.
Kids liked Pandemic, Election Night, and basically endless replay if you get you and your kids into Catan.
Card games in our house: Euchre, Poker (not money at that age), Rummy, spoons, and the kids all play Kemps and laugh like hyenas. I don’t know how to play but they enjoy it.
Weed helps turn my mind “off” so I can rest… But I do have crazy vivid dreams too… I practice lucid dreaming when I can… Just last night I fell asleep in my dream and knew it, so I decided to fly. As dorky as it sounds, I like to swing around like Spider-Man in my dreams with flying, I find that I have to concentrate really hard in my dream to make it work, like if you’re staring at an object trying to get it to move with your mind (yes, I still try to do this in real life lol)
No kidding. I only play on PC and through the years I slowly upgraded parts. I’m glad I bought a 4070ti super before prices increased. I don’t plan on upgrading for quite a while.
A great coop is Split Fiction. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a coop game so much with my daughter as this one. Coop was done so well that we were never bored.
I tried to convince my wife to play it with me and she is not a gamer. I got her to play Cult of the Lamb though and she did enjoy it. I’ll have to wait on It Takes Two when my daughter comes back in town. I’ve heard it’s really good.
