If the Lions get the 2nd or 3rd and Young is there, I’d take him and be happy. My only concern is Young didn’t face NFL OT talent. The only real NFL OT talent in the Big Ten is at Iowa, and they didn’t play OSU. If Young isn’t there, then I’m hoping for a trade back to 6-10 and grab Brown and hopefully an additional 2nd round pick . I think Brown plus a RB, LB or DB in the 2nd. would be equal to just Young. Brown is the mostly versatile DL in the draft, he has the strength, speed and hands to contribute every play, and he is a team leader type, which is something the Lions D doesn’t currently have ( was hoping Mike Daniels would provide that, but well no). I’m almost talking myself into Brown plus another player is better than just Young.
Well, technically he is the ONLY Dlineman who goes by the designation “DL” as opposed to DT or DE. He plays 5t and absolutely reduces inside in 4 and 5 man front packages. But regardless, I think his presence along with Harrison and Flowers makes Brown at 6’5 318 a weird fit. Of course we signed Daniels to big money along side of those guys and A’Shawn has gotten a lot of snaps too, so who knows.
I could get behind okudah but it would bug me for a minute…a lot of my OSU buddies say he is on par w Denzel Ward. Admittedly I don’t that much about the kid.
You know… I was getting excited thinking about the possibilities of a small trade down. Then I remembered Quinn was drafting for us. Maybe we can trade for 2021 picks so the new GM can get us some actual talent.
I wouldn’t discount someone falling in love with Herbert.
An anonymous scout speaking to ESPN gave a breakdown of Justin Herbert, saying, “An immensely talented and athletic quarterback and an even better person. He’s shown he’s a winner. If you were building a video-game quarterback, it would look like this”.
Idk, they say he’s been very hot-n-cold at times and isn’t a natural leader, introverted…but ya never know.
He’s probably similar in projection as Mariotta.
