I have a hard time saying Rodrigo is overrated. I view overrated as high expectation > lack of results. If anything, results thus far have greatly exceeded the expectations for a late round, undersized LB. Even if he takes a half-step back, and becomes a two down, very solid backup LB, I think he meets the expectations of when he was drafted. I also don’t think Jamo is overrated (at this point). I didn’t expect much from him last year coming off the injury, and the gambling thing is more of a disappointment in circumstance than a failure to meet expectations on-the-field (being overrated). Honestly, most players on the team are pretty much on par with where my expectations of them are; the studs are studs, the duds are duds and the rest fall somewhere in the middle-ground. Due to coaching, I’d say many more players are underrated than overrated with results > expectations.

Jameson Williams is the definition of rookie raw in 2022 he was a part of 6 games and targeted 9 times , no he didn’t catch the world on fire, but He has barely played, and will play less again, with this suspension crap…in 2023.

Most overrated by the staff! I’ll say it and Cap will love this. Anzalone is the most overrated player on the team. Sure he’s a good leader, fantastic hair, and gets the defense aligned but there is a reason we spent 1st round pick on an off ball linebacker. Anzalone has value from a leadership standpoint, and helping the young guys learn, but no offense is looking at our defense and saying we gotta block that dude to be successful. He’s a serviceable linebacker, who is good in coverage and leaves a lot to be desired in the run game.
Hopefully Jack Campbell develops into an absolute stud of the future in the middle of the defense.

AGREED 100%. I will say Anzalone got better at the end of the year, but I don’t think he is worth 18.75 mil, he will never reach that rate, (18.75 mil), as a linebacker, that is way to much of an investment for a 29 yo linebacker. The doesn’t mean I hate him, or there is some conspiracy , just a relationship he has benefitted from.

I think if the draft was before free agency, and we drafted Jack Campbell, Anzalone is probably gone. But, it happened in reverse order, and there are 32 teams picking in the draft so it’s no guarantee you get the player you want. I also don’t think Anzalone was probably too excited to see us draft a 1st round linebacker that plays his position, although he’s already got his money. It’s more of a 2 year deal though when you look at the breakdown of the contract.
I made fun of Brockers a lot, but he was apparently really good for the locker room and helping the young guys, so maybe Anzalone heads that direction as the young linebackers keep improving! At least, that’s the hope.

Right now I would agree on Kerby just because interceptions can be so fluky. I think he’s going to do well, but I can see how he could be overrated.
Houston is about the same. If he gets solved and turns out to be a one trick pony I wouldn’t be shocked. We’ve seen a lot of guys rack up sacks one year and then never reproduce it. (I think he will be utilized properly under this regime and be a pass rush weapon)
Also Gibbs and Jamo go on my list of overrateds just because at this time they have done nothing and little respectively. I think both could star, but am not ready to fully believe.

Analzone offers similar value, but also keeps the defense on the same page. he’s smart, just not a fantastic football player. I think too many look at it from a pure talent standpoint, and to do that is to miss the essence of who coach dan is.
anzalone helps cut down on mistakes. we upgraded (not likely this year, but soon. AA has a role here…for now.

Dude has 1 catch for a 40 yard td and a 30 plus yard reverse…and a 60 plus yard TD negated by a hold…all of THAT is production. Not sure what people expected from a kid 1 year removed for shredding his knee. Holmes was not expecting much at all and views THIS year as his rookie year. That said he is annoyed with Williams behaviors.
That is the thing with JAMO. He can do things that only a small handful of players can do…but he is also gonna do stuff in the game that leaves you wondering where his head is…
Don’t think Rodriguez is overrated think he is what everyone thought he was…a special teams ace who was forced into a starting role because the LB’s sucked and Barnes hadn’t stepped up yet.

sure do wish we could speak our truth without being mean to each other…it gets us nowhere…plus, when it comes right down to it, we are all on the same side.
