PFF put together a list of the best 3 players on each team.
On some teams that is not hard to do.
To me there is a lot of debate for the Lions.
Especially this past year.
There were 6 Lions selected as All-Pro.
1st Team: Penei, ARSB, Fox, and Kerby.
2nd Team: Ragnow and Raymond
Then you have Goff, Gibbs, and Branch.
Even though he didn’t play much last season we can’t forget about Hutch.
My Choice for Last Season are Penei, ARSB, and Kerby.
Overall I’d probably have to agree with PFF and say Penei, ARSB, and Hutch.
Who are Your Best 3 Lions?
St. Brown continues to dominate PFF’s receiving metrics. He leads all wide receivers in WAR in 2024 (0.70), cumulative WAR over the past three years (1.70) and average WAR over that span (0.57). His 92.5 receiving grade trails only Tyreek Hill across those three seasons. Hutchinson opened 2024 with one of the most dominant five-game stretches ever recorded, earning a 95.0 pass-rush grade and a 38.9% win rate before injury. Sewell delivered a second consecutive elite run-blocking grade (91.5) and remains one of the top offensive linemen in football. Every NFL team’s top three players entering the 2025 season
Sewell and Hutch are one level ahead of everyone else. St Brown leads a much larger 2nd tier among Detroit Lions players that includes Kerby and Goff, among others.
Sewell is a no-brainer, but i think many undervalue ARSB.
He is Elite and has been doing it for 3 years.
He is near the top of most every advanced statistic for his position.
Hutch was getting there (and I think he would have arrived without the injury) but is still a 2nd tier DE in the NFL.
Kerby is now the top Free safety in the NFL.
Gibbs is a top 5 RB in the NFL.
Good problem to have picking the best 3.
It really depends on how you interpret the question. Does best mean most valuable? Obviously Goff is #1 then. He gets hurt and this team is no longer a contender We can whether the storm if we lose any other player.
Does it mean best as in, best amongst their peers at their own positions. Essentially all pro caliber players. Do you combine that with also evaluating the importance of the position they play? For example, Jack Fox is perhaps the best punter in the NFL, but probably only makes BigNattys top 3….
I consider it a combo of best amongst their position group and importance of position. I think the top two are no brainers in Sewell/Hutch. Sewell may be the best player in the league if you don’t factor in positional value. Hutch would have run away with DPOY last season. 3rd is much more of a challenge. Logical choice is St Brown since he has been consistently elite. While easily a top 10 WR, he may fall just outside the top 5. I think Jamo may throw his name in this conversation after this season as well. You could have also argued Ragnow prior to today.
With all that said I think it has to be Gibbs. RBs are making a come back and this kid is truly special. Like has a chance to rival what I consider the greatest RB of all time in Barry Sanders special. He is already a top 3 RB in the game today and has barely scratched the surface of his receiving potential. Even if he falls short of those lofty expectations, I still expect him to be a top 10 offensive skill players in the league for the next 5+ years.
Tough question . Im going off last year only
1.Gibbs dude could be a hr any play
2. St Brown hes been constantly good
3. Sewell best tackle in the leauge
This isn’t a Gibbs vs Montgomery thread. My pick wasn’t just “RB”. They are two completely different players. I also said this isn’t about just talent. Because in that case I don’t know anyone in the league that has Gibb’s skill-set. I chose who i think is most valuable. I also completely disagree with Gibb’s being “way” better. Monty doesn’t get nearly the respect he deserves around here.
Some people have Hutch on their list. They won without him. So, he’s not on my list. Some have Jamo, and Kerby. These are my picks.
