What a crash out. I couldn’t even give two shits that he put DMo in his top 3. It was his reasoning. “They won without Hutch so how can people put Hutch in the Top 3” - 2 seconds later - “DMo, whom the Lions won every single game without, is a Top 3 guy”.
Don’t care if you love DMo. I love him too but have some consistency. It’s like telling someone not to drink because it’s bad for you while you’re chugging a 5th of Jack.
It’s only 3.
That’s what makes this exercise interesting, difficult, and good for the Lions because they have so many more than 3 good players.
(I didn’t think it would create online fights).
I don’t think Hutch is an easy #2 (unless going on potential).
He is one of my favorite Lions but hasn’t established himself as an elite (top 5) edge rusher yet (although he was on his way in 2024).
10.5 sack avg. in 1st 2 seasons is good but doesn’t join the elite club.
ARSB has 2 All-Pro seasons and is in the top of all major advanced receiving stats.
Kerby is a 2024 All Pro and has established himself as arguably the best Free Safety in football.
He is one of the leaders in interceptions the last 3 seasons.
I’m glad the Lions have enough good players to debate the top 3.
I agree.
But he did break his leg.
At this point he is still just potential of what we think he will be.
I’m confident he will get there but Penei, ARSB, and Kerby are all top 3 at their positions in the league.
I’m pretty confident in Hutch as well, but there are plenty of players that we thought were going to be great that never really delivered.
So far other than the games to begin last season hutch has only been good.
Contracts mean nothing in terms of on field performance.
The contract Hutch is about to get is a bet from the Lions on his future.
There have been plenty of bad contracts.
I bet the Browns would like to get that Watson contract back.
Not to disparage Hutch, he is one of my favorite Lions.
But as far as the best?
He has yet to deliver what Penei, ARSB and Kerby have in the last 3 years.
