Anzalone, one would have to believe, has reached his ceiling. GREAT for Detroit, but Cap’n Jack has so much more potential. Some of his run stops, I have no idea how they didn’t register as a TFL. You could see him meet the runner at the LOS in a sea of humanity and climb off the turf on the opponent’s side of line after having destroyed the run. His spatial awareness was trash, but I think that’s just a matter of getting comfortable with your role and who’s surrounding you. He’ll be much, much better.
Jack had 95 tackles and 2 sacks in just 639 snaps… Go back and look at Roquan’s Smith first rookie year. He had 200 plus more snaps, and thus if Jack had played that many downs, it’s not unlikely that he’d have had 120-130 tackles and 3-4 sacks.
Yes he had some rookie issues, but by year end it was much improved. Watch him have 120 tackles and 4 sacks with an INT this year, and be in the Pro Bowl discussion in year 2.
