Just make him throw the ball and we should shut them down
Do they need to contain him so we can win?
My first thought is that PoD is just trying to create some drama from what should be a routine win for the Lions. Why “must” he be contained?
So far lions have done ok against running qbs. Colts still have a chance to win the south. Might be a closer game then we think
Exactly. Dude is below 50 percent completions. Can’t sustain drives doing that.
I hate these state the obvious articles… oh we must contain the other teams running threat at QB? You dont say, never would have thought that would be the case… thanks!
It at least gives them something to write about. Other then that it would be pretty hard to find a topic for the Lions.
“Colts must stop Sonic and Knuckles”
PS… Good luck
I think the bigger question is "will they be able to slow our offense down enough for his legs to even be able to matter ? There defense has biggest has the toughest job.
Anthony Richardson, meet Brian Branch. He’ll be your guide to pain, today.
I mean if all you have to write as a journalist covering something is effectively “water is wet” maybe get a new profession where creativity shouldnt be a factor?
If we can contain Richardson in the pocket, I think he may really struggle with our defense. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was a multi pick game. Richardson is not accurate and we play a ton of man and our CB’s have been sticky. He is going to have to make tight window throws to have success in the air.
I say play a lot of man with single high safeties and blitz off that. Get him confused. If we hold them under 80 total rushing yards, we win by 20.
My feeling is who cares if he gets his 50 yards rushing. The dude sucks at quarterbacking right now. We are not going to lose this game just because Richardson gets his average rushing yards per game. Which at this point is only 39.1 yards per game.
He’s also had injury concerns in the past… You wanna run. Branch going to blow you up Anthony.
Last year he had a concussion and shoulder surgery. Keep on running.
I just reviewed the Colts-Jets game after hearing PFF say that it was Richardson’s best game as a pro. Oof! If that was his best game, I can’t imagine what the bad ones look like.
Bad mechanics, bad habits, sloppy ball handling (I think he lost control of the ball twice with no contact), inconsistent accuracy. Just generally sloppy outside of a few big throws off of his back foot.
And while he’s big, and strong on his runs, he didn’t really look elusive.
There are QB’s that are athletic, and then there are athletes trying to play QB. They aren’t the same thing, and Richardson looks like the latter to me.
Will probably have a similar career to Jake Locker. The athleticism will tease coaches for a while until they realize they can’t make a real passer out of him.
JMO, of course.
After reading both of the articles linked, I feel like as long as our team comes ready to play the Colts might be tailor made for the Lions 4th win by 30+ points.
My concern is him under pressure and lobbing the ball deep in the direction of whomever TA is covering, hoping for PA penalties.
