Vets have been thrown on the field in less time than this. I think the Minnesota left tackle was starting 3 days after they got him.
Lions are smart to let him have a bye week and let his body recharge for the rest of the season…plus its one less game that he can get injured.

He’s not here for one game against the Texans, he’s here for a deep playoff run. He’s also 32 so having him play 18 regular season games probably isn’t the best way to keep him in the best shape for that deep playoff run.

I guess if Rapaport broke the trade for Z being done, he would have an in with his agent. And his agent is the one telling him Z is not playing. Which is messed up. Brad needs to get on the horn and tell him to STFU.

The team leaks stuff to him and Schefter, it’s part of the relationship between the media and the league - just look at their timelines and they’re full of who’s playing today and who isn’t - that all comes direct from the coaching staffs around the league.
This getting out 24 hours before the game is too late for the Texans to massively alter their gameplan, but given that Smith had two days off and Dan talked down his chance of playing the Texans probably prepared for us not to have him and for us to have him anyway.

I thought it was a little strange the line has not moved from 3.5 after we acquired him. It seems like it would have moved at least a half a point with the acquisition of the 84th ranked player from 2023, at a position of need, at a position that is rather transferable from team to team. Oh well. He’s here for the post season, not a regular season game we are favored against an AFC team.
