2024 Draft

Can’t the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl measurements be trusted?

Yikes on rakestraw and Brownlee

If he can put on 15 pounds of good weight I do think he can be really good.

Yeah agreed, pretty thin frame though. I like him better than some of the other guys slotted around the same area though.

I’m not sure what to make of those numbers. Some of the better CBs may only get targeted once or twice a game. Without the number of targets the numbers may be skewed. I don’t think a statistical pattern can be formed if it’s based on 7 targets. If it is based on 70 targets it would hold more water.

I thought Pritchett the other Auburn CB was the better pro prospect but he is extremely thin as well. As little as they are I don’t think either is afraid to stick their nose in on run support.

Certainly the more the merrier when it comes to sample size. Just passing on the info

I do appreciate the trouble you went through to add the rest of the CBs. You bring a lot of valuable information during draft time and I read it all.

Tampa reminds me of a Richard Sherman, but quicker feet. The little I have seen of him on broadcast view, I wouldnt play him in off-coverage. Honestly, I dont like any CB in off-coverage unless we are playing prevent.

Tampa is better than Sherman.

I like Pritchett a lot for where I think he’ll go. I think James has more upside but he’s going to get bullied early.

I do like Tampa but better than Sherman might be a stretch. Over a 5 year stretch Sherman was one of the best in the NFL. Sherman was not a great prospect coming out of Stanford but he certainly made his mark in the NFL.

Coaching and system.

Tampa would be a stud in a cover 3 press with other coverages mixed in. More than Sherman. Of course, motivation comes into the equation. Richard was very motivated.

Is Tampa?

If he is, he could better than Sherman.

Aaron Glenn wants mostly press cover 1. So…Tampa might not be for us. He could be good at press, but changing directions?

To me…and I have limited view of him…he would be better in a press-zone scheme. Man coverage I am not sure. But that question mark fits the stereotype of high-hipped corners.

Can he stick in Man Coverage on quick moves?

But make no mistake he will be a good player if played to his strength.

But, maybe i am wrong and you see it differently.

I like Tampa a lot because he is good in run support among other things. For the CBs I will wait until I see them run the drills at the combine before making any final decisions. The best CB I seen all year is the one Thats2 raves about Q Mitchell but I am not ready to put him in a class with Richard Sherman either.

If the NFL scouts are worth anything…Q. Mitchell doesnt get close to us.

However…

Yeah I don’t see Mitchell getting out of the top 15. At the Senior Bowl he showed the ability to play press which was one of the questions about him and he delivered. The only question now revolves around his testing numbers.

There are so many CB prospects this year. Quan’Tez Stiggers from the CFL and Jarius Monroe from Tulane are 2 guys under the radar that I like. I’m not sure where we have to draft them but it seems like we have about 30 CBs to sort through this year.

Really, it depends what we want the player to do.

I also see poor coaching at the collegiate level. Even the very top CB are not in top form. Even from Alabama. Which, as you know, Saban is known for.

I would go out on a limb and say Kool-Aid has been one of the best coached CBs in NCAA history. If there is something he don’t do now it’s because he can’t do it. Saban is a DB coach and one of the best. Even our own RB Gibbs when asked about his relationship with Saban said all his attention is on the other side of the ball with DBs.

I say that because he has been there for 3 years and starting games since his freshman year.

I agree I don’t need to see anymore. If I could select any CB I wanted in this draft it would be Mitchell. I don’t even care what his 40 time says I have seen his recovery speed with the ball in the air and it’s fast… I doubt he is there at 29.

If Kool-Aid was coached so well for 3 years…why was he playing head-up/outside leverage in man coverage on the play Ad Mitchell beat him on a slant for a TD from the…roughly 5-yard line?

3 years and Kool-Aid gives up the inside route ln a wide split? Too much area to give up on the inside because of the wide split.

I am curious to know. Thats all.

He should have been shaded inside and taking away the inside route…and leveraging AD Mitchell to the sideline…

I just wanna know…what/who messed up…

No shame…even the NFL CBs do it.

But the best CBs…?

Rarely happens.
