Without continuing to argue about Goff specifically, I am now interested in this metric now. I found this snippet
“ RELEASE TIME – measures the amount of time it takes to complete the throwing motion from breaking the hands to the ball leaving your fingers. A faster release helps to keep the ball from being batted down at the line of scrimmage and gives you more time to hold the ball and make the right read. NFL QBs have an average release time of 0.43 seconds. Therefore the faster you can get the ball out, the better”
Back to Goff. His average pocket time is 2.3 and the NFL average is 2.5. At 2.3 Goff is tied for third witn several quarterbacks
Also consider Goff plays under center more than most. So within 2.3 seconds, Goff takes the hike, performs a play action, goes through progressions and throws.
If the throw on average, takes .43 seconds, that leaves 1.87 seconds to play action, take your drop, turn around, set your feet, make your reads and throw
That’s incredible really. And really demonstrates why an elite QB earns what they earn

I went hunting on this, and MAN Goff is second behind only Cousins (last year) in the amount of under center snaps and he STILL was in Shotgun 74.1% of the time!!! So for the data it’s not “on average.” It’s only 26% of the time that he’s under center.

Rams vs Lions was one of Goff’s best games I’ve seen. The guy was that good in every way. But Stafford is like a harlem globetrotter of QB’s…lol.

True. I just wish it had been with us against Dallas. And glad is wasn’t against us this year.
My post was more a jab at Ninja who said Goff was ‘good’ in that game but Stafford was the Harlem Globetrotters.
