Campbell: Goff needs to 'step up' for 0-6 Lions

Those mechanics that they now rave about, along with Mahomes and Roger’s that can make those throws.

The Pettidrops and Ebusts, the Olines that gave up 10 sacks in a game.

The game plans so good opposing Ds were calling the play before the snap?

The nfl record for games without a 100 yd rusher. The 3 100 yd rushers he had in 12 yrs.

The best HC he had, the “Fixer” who was voted the worst HC in the league. A D so bad that Caldwrll played so conservative to protect it by eating click and hoping Stafford would pull it out in the end, which he did in record fashion winning 8 of 9 games in come from behind fashion I’m the 4th qtr dragging a terrible 9-7 team into the playoffs. A team that had no business making it

This was always the most insincere of all the arguments. The offenses were built to use short passes to pass catching RBs in lieu of a traditional ground game. It’s what allowed Stafford to stay in shotgun. It’s the system he was most comfortable in and what helped rack up all the yards. Go look up Bell and Bests targets, YACs and all the passes at or behind the LOS those years

I also am pretty amazed that still all the excuses are dragged out for Stafford aren’t being extended to Goff at all.

I’m all for a benching if Goff continues to struggle. It helped Stafford in 15 when Caldwell told Stafford if he threw another boneheaded interception he would bench him. (he did) That benching helped light a fire under his ass a little and raise his game

I mean saying Goff has lost his top three WRs is like saying “I used a card board box as a bulletproof vest”….I mean who are the #1, #2 & #3 WRs and how are they better or different than the guys that played today?? We are not talking about losing Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson & Titus Young all and once and replacing them with Chris Durham, Ryan Broyles and David Kircus are we?? I mean if anything TJ Hockensin is, indeed, the #1 receiving threat and Swift is #2 and they both played today.

Wow, I pointed to the last 2 yrs of Goff with the rams vs Stafford with the rams and Stafford is a massive upgrade on a worse team than Goff had last yr. A mostly apples to apples comparison, and that’s what you come up with?

Tell you what go see what rams fans think. They have had Goff and Stafford as well. They strongly prefer Stafford

Of course - 100% yes to all of this. What I your point? Do you feel like someone is arguing against this?

Of course - this is preferred. Feels like Goff is digressing
I am with you, and dont’ understand what you are getting at. I want to build the team to get a more air assessment, but am starting to have bigger doubts in him.

As of right now, I almost wonder if you are arguing with yourself. I agree with all of this.
The only point of contention I have w/you is that Matt ABSOLUTELY HAS played on teams this banged up and devoid of talent, possibly worse.

That is just ridiculous, and every hc from Schwartz to Patricia tried to build a run game. From LeShoure, Best, Bush. KJ, TO Swift, nor to mention the huge draft capital spent on the oline

2019 Rams oline was pretty terrible. ranked second to last. Ranking all 32 NFL offensive lines following the 2019 regular season | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics | PFF

2020 was disappointing but he looked pretty impressive coming back from injury and winning a playoff game tossing 4TDs to beat the Seahawks.

I would content Stafford needs to win a Super bowl to justify that trade. And who knows. He just might

Oh, my. Well, we live in a world where thankfully we all get to have our own voice and opinion, no matter how far “out there” it is.

Or…Linehan was actually smart enough to recognize we had no OL, and set up a system where Stafford was 2nd fastest release in NFL (behind only Manning), to cover up for other deficiencies.

We all live in our own experience and tell our own stories.

I don’t think anyone is contesting this. The argument might be inside of your own head.

This might be your own perception as well. Nothing to do with my reality. This stuff is all time stamped. Go look at some of my posts in other threads. I don’t have the energy to look it up for you.

I’m still waiting on an answer. You could say on this year from these games, was Stafford in a new system
without starters in three positions on the oline and the top three WRs on injured reserve

Saying, ‘but he really did have it that bad’ isn’t an answer

Do you think I’m addressing you specifically?

Very good examples of pass catching RBs. Especially Best Bush and Bell. The offense was a hyper WCO. They used the pass as substitute for a run game. So citing lack of run game misses the mark.

If you’re waiting, you’ll be waiting awhile.

  1. I already told you I dont’ remember specifics, dates, etc as well as some of you guys.
  2. I don’t care what my own opinion is, let alone yours.
  3. I don’t care enough to look it up. I’ve already expressed that. If waiting is what you want to do, you can kill as much time as you feel comfortable with.

I’m not truly waiting because it’s not a thing. But I do enjoy your posts and respect your opinions. I have only had to put one poster on ignore (today) for being intellectually dishonest. But everyone else here engages well and respectfully

The same oline by and large Stafford has. Has nothing to do with Stafford recognition of the D and knowing where to attack or get out of a bad play into a good one, not dropping back 10 yds giving edge rushers a better angle, adjusting blocking, calling out blitzes and getting the ball out.

I guess you would rather believe what you want. However, what teams did to Goff was wait till the Communications were turned off in his helmet and then adjust so McVey couldn’t adjust, because Goff didn’t. Again that’s not just me, that’s coming from the rams boards, and McVey.

Nah - didn’t really care enough to give it seeeerrrious consideration either way. I responded, as it was in response to my post. No harm, brother. I’m very chill, right now. I feel like you’re being a little demanding. Not sure if that’s real or not, and it’s hard to get a read on energy through text, sometimes. It sorta feels that way. I’m not worrried about it either way, just not going to give energy to it

As long as I’m still having fun, I’ll be here for you. If it stops being fun, I’ll bow out. I have enough stuff going on that has real life implications to where I won’t allow my hobby to be stressful.

Who is Goff missing that would help this team win??

This is wise. I only mentioned it, because you said that is what you are doing.

NFL Starter level count-

DBs-
Walker- Mid level #2 safety
AO- #2/3 corner on a bad team

LB-

Moving on…

DT- Brockers- vet #2 DT in right scheme

DE/OLB- Flowers-#2DE on a good not great team, ROkwara, same just different style/abilities

Hock-Swift- Near Pro Bowl level and solid starter.
Sewell-Starter talent taking his NFL adjustment lumps, JJ meh #2 OG.
Goff- I mean, he’s maybe Case Keenum? Maybe? ugh. back quartile starter.

Fox.

thats all folks GIF

LOL, nevermind what the hc and oc said. I mean the saints weren’t running the ball, Minnesota sure didn’t with Linehan, nor Bevell but sure

25 IQ points, a robotic arm and about 200 points to his testosterone score
