I’m not blaming Goff to blame Goff. I’m pointing out what Rams fans and McVey have said and are saying.
Stafford is on track to obliterate Goffs best yr, and has already set a nfl record for most passing tds in 6 games on a new team.
Stafford is squarely in the mvp mix as well, with a few others.
The bs we had to read here about Stafford couldn’t elevate players, couldn’t read a D, terrible pocket presence, couldn’t manipulate a defense, couldn’t go through progressions, low football IQ, is all on display in spades. Those people know who they are. We called bs and always said even the best need a good team around them and just as important a good coaching staff.
We still feel that way. It’s why we pushed for wrs and suggested focus on building the offense to give Goff the best chance to succeed so we could give him a good evaluation. Hoping he would succeed. The struggles with the rams were real, he shouldered a lot of the blame, including the most turnovers since 19. We talked about his struggles with pressure, so he needed a good O line, his struggles without a run game, so we needed a run game. Big natty and I were begging for a certain rb out of a certain sec school that went to a particular mile high team. I was also big on Waddle and Smith, though I didn’t think Sewell would fall to us.
Conversely, the argument is Stafford needed a Super Bowl caliber team with a genius head coach, loaded with weapons to finally reach his potential. Goff went to two pro bowls and a Super Bowl there. Stafford needs to win the Super Bowl to make that trade worthwhile
Only if you can’t evaluate QB play. That was l on display in Detroit for yrs. It’s why so many wanted him, it’s why McVey gave up so much for him, it’s why the SB winning HC in Tampa said Stafford was a top 5 QB just last yr.
I was in camp Parsons and thought Slater would be a better T. I hope this year we can keep stacking the defense. I don’t want any of these QBs this year. Pickett is intriguing as a mid round pick. But his tiny little Trump hands should give pause
Stafford was pretty erratic for much of his time. I think some remember with rose colored glasses. Year five Stafford was a mess and a coaching staff had to be brought in to fix his mechanics.
Keep in mind Goff is in year five, so if we can learn from history and learn from Stafford improving as much as he did, it might be premature to want to kick him to the curb
I do agree Stafford now is more well poised to lead a modified McVey offense. But he’s been in the league for 12 years now and wasn’t going to do anything here. IMO if Stafford were here this year, we are still 0-6
Nope, even the majority of rams fans disagree. A lot goes into a SB, luck and injuries play a huge role.
Rams fans see it for what it truly is, only butt hurt lions fans would say that. The truth of it is quite simple.
The truth is who gives them a better chance to win the SB. They overwhelmingly think Stafford gives them a much better chance, especially within
the current window with Donald and Ramsey. They went from many who hated the trade, brought they gave up to much, to now saying great trade and they’d do it again.
It’s the Stafford haters, the ones that were wrong all along trying to push that narrative. See it used to be Stafford can’t win a playoff game. Well when he gets on a playoff caliber team it became he has to win a SB.
However, he has a great shot this yr, and if they stay healthy he might just hoist the Lombardi and an MVP
Now who is arguing with themselves? That’s literally what I just said. McVey had to modify his offense because it was becoming predictable. Stafford as a 12 year vet offers a better chance for them now.
Like I said above. If the 2013 Lions were Super Bowl caliber, I would have rather traded year five Stafford for a top vet
But also, as I mentioned, to justify the trade they have to win a SB. Anything less should be a disappointment
Most pressured QB in the league. By your own measure, we are to take that into consideration, no?
Also, Stafford has the highest QB rating in the league, while under pressure.
Stafford is a different energy. He’s far more alpha, more confident (always was). To me, their ceilings are different. They have different stentghts and weaknesses. Matt is who he is, same with Goff.
I’m not gonna say what I feel strengths and weaknesses are.
think of what YOU think they are.
Which guy would you want to follow into battle?
Which guy would you rather protect?
Which guy is more fun, more trustworthy as a leader, etc?
This is the sort of stuff I’m thinking of. Not just intellectual. They both have that.
it’s not always what you do, it’s HOW you do it. Matt is much more a leader of a man than Goff is. Nothing against Goff at all…but he’s not stafford, and IMO, their ceilings are not comparable.
Those mechanics were never changed. He still has them today. Caldwell reeled in the gunslinger a bit. That was the fix. Yet time and time again that gunslinger was forced to try and make a play to keep them in a game, or make the dramatic come from behind win.
Caldwell was very conservative, and coached that way. He schemed to be very conservative and eT click because the D was so bad.
The mess was Linehan, once teams figured out his offense he never adjusted. He did the same in Dallas good for a couple yrs then figured out. It’s his track record. The Lombardi a first time OC, and Ds were calling out the play before the snap, we all bitched a out it, jbc and Bevell had the same thing happen. Teams were laughing and talking about it after the games.
As to this yr, nope we win at least 2 games by now. Stafford is that much better, and never in his career started 0-6 including his rookie yr on a horrible team, one that got his shoulder crushed twice in the same season.
Interesting take.
What’s hilarious is - my male clients tend to interpret my energy as highly masculine, while the women experience me as more gentle. How are you experiencing me?
They brought in Caldwell Cooter to specifically rework his mechanics and footwork. You can look up articles to this effect and look at the stats. He did become a more accurate passer
It was predictable because of Goff, it’s common knowledge, he couldn’t do what he wanted because of Goffs limitations, I laid it out for you. You don’t like it sorry, go look for yourself.
2013 lions were not SB caliber by any stretch, 2014 was
also, it would be relevant if he were ‘the most pressured QB’ the last several years. Do you have a link to the stats? or was that more or less made up. The stats I have presented, I supplied links
I’m completely willing to have any conversation with you, though I may not fulfill all of your requests. If I have a conversation with you, it’s gotta be honest. I’m not going to assume that you’ve paid enough attention to my posts to know what I do for a living.
I won’t take the time to get into it. I could show you a shit load about yourself emotionally/psychologically, but I ton’t think you want it, so I won’t bother.
Breaking down leadership energy feels like a chick to you, it may be time to look in the mirror and ask yourself a few questions about your own insecurities though. Not my place to coach you, but if you start cycling energy/projecting, I’ll point some things out to you, and you won’t like it.
To your 2nd point…
I just don’t care enough to look things up. I’m not sharp enough to remember exact dates, but I’m quoting things they say during games, things I’ve read on here, and seen in articles.
You can accept it as truth, feel it’s a total lie, or fantasize that the exact opposite is true. I’ll sleep just as well no matter what your choice is.
