It does matter when discussing the team’s overall body of work.
However, the committee ranked Alabama ahead of Notre Dame after the last game of the regular season. That means, that at that time, FSU loss included, they thought Alabama was a better team than Notre Dame.
The only thing that changed from that point was the Alabama loss in the SEC Championship game. That was also the only data point between last Tuesday’s rankings and selection Sunday. My belief is that, if Alabama hadn’t earned the right to play in that SEC Championship game, that they would’ve been sitting at home just like Notre Dame and the order between those two teams wouldn’t have changed.
Not what im saying. @HSVLion point was why get punished because you did something others didn’t. Conference champion for power4 should go away completely.
It’s not even a debate of what people want going forward. It’s a debate of whether you control your own fate by the games you win on your schedule. The fact that we are talking about not counting losses and bodies of work proves that is not the case. You don’t control your own destiny by the games you win on your schedule. It’s entirely dependent of what a 3rd party thinks of the quality of your wins. That’s not a fair system no matter how you look at it.
I haven’t read a ton on this lately, but I’ve heard some rumors outside of wins/losses.

Also as a Michigan fan I am not broken up at all about him being gone. Ward ■■■■■■ up and gave it to the guy Harbaugh and the Team wanted because they liked him instead of doing a full search. I honestly believe we will end up with a better coach after we run through a really rocky stretch of road for a little bit

I think the job coming open as late as it did was a huge factor in hiring Moore. I would have preferred a search as well, but I get the timing thing. He does have time to get a coach still. It was an odd year for vacancies, but honestly many of the coaches taken would not have been on Michigan’s radar. That’s a plus.

Would love it, but he won’t do it for the same reasons Jim isn’t there. Not long after Jim left, John referenced this. He said Jim loves the players, loves the program and loves the university. He didn’t love the people running things. It’s the same group still there.
