So if Texas A&M had won the tiebreaker somehow over Alabama and played in the SEC Championship game instead, and A&M had lost to Georgia, would Alabama have been in?
Yes
Agreed.
If he does what I think he can do for Penn State, thatâs going to be a huge positive for the B1G.
Now, if Nebraska could get its shit togetherâŚ
Then why should Alabama have been punished for earning the right to play an extra game?
Itâs a pretty good gig to just sit on the couch safe and sound while a team that finished higher in the conference standings than you is fighting for their playoff life.
BYU was punished
Ohio State was punished
I agree with @HSVLion . Bama lost because they played a extra game. Get rid of conference football championships games. I also 50 50 on Notre Dame not being or should be in. They should look for a conference soon. Still cant believe msu didnât sneak in.
Ohio State wasnât punished. They were just moved directly behind the team they lost to.
BYU was âpunishedâ, but Alabama has a better resume than BYU does, by a lot.
You said you control your destiny by winning the games on your schedule, but you also want things outside of the schedule to be considered when a team you like doesnât win the games on their schedule. So the play on the field does not determine your fate. Which means the teams and fan bases upset about that do have something legitimate to bitch about, do they not?
They still lost 3 games on their schedule. You canât argue the play on the field matters when it really doesnât. Itâs still based on a bunch of people deciding these things behind closed doors.
Do you think they are in if they donât play a extra game. They beat 4 teams in top 25 including Georgia. And lost to two playoff teams and a bad lost to FSU
The conference championship was on their schedule. The fact that we are talking about forgetting that game even happened is exactly what teams and fan bases are pissed about. Why isnât everyone who lost a conference game in then? Itâs definitely held against some teams and people donât seem to have an issue with that.
I think ND should be in before bama, but understand @HSVLion point.
Win the games on your schedule is what we are being told. So, beat Florida State and youâre in right? Or do we now consider bad losses ok for some but not for others? This idea teams control their own fate under the current system is nothing but a myth.
Not until they earned the right to play in it while other playoff teams didnât.
If they would have beat Florida State or Oklahoma we wouldnât be having this discussion.
@Dan01 is rightâŚ.as he usually is! ![]()
Did Oklahoma⌠no, did Oregon.. no, Ole missâŚno did. Did MiamiâŚno. did Texas a&mâŚno.
Thatâs a fair and correct point. We shouldâve found a way to win one of those two games.
However, I think itâs pretty hilarious that Notre Dame fans and supporters want Alabama to be punished for earning the right to play in a conference championship when they themselves cannot play in a conference championship.
They also didnât beat Florida State. Why does that not matter when discussing Alabama, but similar losses are the key for being out with other teams? It takes more than just winning games on your schedule. It matters what a group of people determine to be the quality of the win. Thatâs bullshit.
