Colorado Rockies history in the making

Coors field is legit a beautiful park is why tbh

like its a top 10 park in the league arguably with how it looks, but yeah

MLB needs the Monteforts to sell, cause Denver is a big sports town and having the Rockies being this bad sucks, considering how big they were in the early 2000s

Owner upgrades solves a lot.

Rockies had a shutout today over the Cards. They won 6-0

It was the Rockies first shutout in… Wait for it.

220 games

That is wild.

Whats else is wild? They have more wins in July than the Tigers

Just when you thought they were starting to pull it together.

Currently down 0-18 top of the 9th vs BALTIMORE

All 12 batter of Baltimore have at least one hit!

Just past the 3/4 mark.

They will likely NOT have the most losses or worst winning % in history.

On track for 46-116 (0.286) a solid 0.030 over all time worse.

HOWEVER.

They are going to destroy the all time point differential record.

They are averaging -2.643. That means the will end the season at -428!!!

Worst all time is -2.266. Rockies nearly half a run per game worse!

Have you seen how their prospects are hitting?

Yanquiel F. .200 w no power
Amador under .200
Veen, when he was up, under .200
Toglia they sent back down too. Barely .200

Warming Bernabel is heating up (heh)
Hunter Goodman is raking.

The rest? Retreads and age 27 vets that have a lot of holes in their games (Doyle and Moniak).

Vodnik in the pen is doing well again but that staff is garbage.

They could swoon again.

I’ve felt for years that it is fundamentally impossible for Denver to field a consistently competitive team. They have no way to keep a pitching staff healthy and rested

The other issue is any good pitcher can’t wait to leave and good luck signing a decent pitcher in free agency. It’s career suicide. They have to massively overpay for mid level pitchers looking for a payday.

Good point

Thinking back, I can’t think of a single great pitcher they’ve had in 30 years. They’ve had good pitchers with great seasons, but no one comes to mind who put together a string of good-great years

I remember they once spent a ton on Mike Hampton.

His career stats… Are pretty good. Look closely at Colorado years.

Yeah, I looked it up. Best Rockies pitcher seasons by WAR

Freeland was a 2 WAR pitcher for a few seasons.

Jimenez had two great years in Colorado then fell off the cliff. I remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth when the Team Formerly Known As The Indigenous South Asians traded for him.

Average total runs at Colorado 11.88
Average total runs on the toad 8.50

But home vs away doesnt change the RD too much.
But whats shocking is the difference between wins and losses

Average Win score
6.4 to 4.0
But average loss?
2.7 to 7.4!

When they lose they get DESTROYED.
