Campbell idk whats going on but i think the loss of an actual WLB and being put into a more coverage heavy role is just not his style, but hes also just been…ehh play wise too, mix of both things.

I think the plan was to use Izien in a modified version of that AA role. And then all hell broke loose in our secondary.

most likely, but Izien playing like 2023 Iffy is exactly what we need rn, and it showed today, was just a disruptive force wherever he was.

Exactly. The secondary is in shambles, most of us get it. But blaming Hutch and Dline today? That’s either trolls or legit special need posters that have no idea what is happening on the field. I say that with love. But come on now.
Super early to tell. Only 3 games in, and one of them was against the most mobile QB in the league.
Some of this stuff will level itself out. Gotta fix some stuff for sure, and peak around playoff time!

No, that’s uncreative blitz packages by a scheme that typically doesn’t blitz. This is a coaching issue. Overall, DL has been fine, IMO.

Its both. The scheme works great IF you have the DL to run it.
If You blitz that much. You should be able to get MORE sacks. And more pressure and rattle the QB. Just based on the top 10 teams that blitz and get that much pressure. All have a 10-12% sack rate with an under 2.5s time to throw. Lions with a similar pressure and blitz rate. 8% sack rate and 2.8s time to throw.
Thats the massive difference. They dont have the DL to run that blitz heavy scheme.
Getting another DB isnt going to help that situation. It might help SLIGHTLY by limiting 1 of the receivers. But what about the other 4 receivers on the field?
Its not about the box score. Not about pressure rate. Not about sack#. Its about, when you blitz, when you generate “pressure” what does that do to the QB? And every stat shows, it does NOTHING.
When blitzing 0.3+ EPA passing. ~70% completions. Vs the NFL average of -0.2 EPA and ~55% completions.
I fail to see how 1 DB would make a massive difference.
And no im not saying Moore wont develop into a decent DE. Im saying hes not the solution to the pass rush issues.
His <2% pressure rate or Wunnoms 8% pressure rate (including today) isnt it.

ok, when we got Moore to put next to Hutch, I expected good things and both of them racking off sacks together. I’m not through with Moore, first time here and it might take him some time to make an impact , I’ll wait. See Lions fans seem to think if we land players and they don’t turn into beasts immediately , they are wasted picks, this team doesn’t “develop” much…maybe save for Jamo.
At what point is it not an issue? Does Houston have pass rush issues?
Our defensive line was good to very good in both week 1 and week 3 IMO. In week 2 we got abused in the run game bc of all the games and stunts being used against us and likely from fatigue as well. IMO our week 2 defensive issues stemmed from that and blown assignments in the secondary. In week 1 and 3 we struggled closing out the game in large part bc our secondary struggled making plays on the ball.
The secondary simply not being good enough has IMO been the clear theme of the 2026 Lions defensive story so far.
it would take a Slay-like corner to make much difference, WE blow at nabbing quality Corners as of yet, but to say "what would they do? you are far smarter than that and know that answer -IF- we had more than one right now. you don’t notice the effects of having solid Corners because we have been pretty shitty in getting them.
