He just signed with the Bills practice squad fyi
The Lions will be responsible for the difference in the guarantee and his PS salary from the Bills⦠If he stays on the PS all season, the difference the Lions would be responsible for is around 650k
I donāt know.
Unless you are one of the best in the NFL at it like top 3. The difference between the say the 5th best and 29th best isnāt that big.
Also using punt return yards per attempt as a measurement Kalif Raymond might have been the worst in the NFL at it for dudes who were full time punt returners.
I think being able to actually field the punt and knowing when to fair catch it might be as important as the actual return ability
Thanks, but I have to say, youāre not my real @DeadStroke. Itās going to take a little time to trust you.
And itās going to take a long time before anyone trusts me.
Itās difficult to say bc PS salaries vary for vets⦠But itāll be around 20k a week, give or take. His guaranteed salary was 1,075,000, minus 360k (18 weeks X 20k/week) leaves a 715k difference. Could go a little either way depending on his actual PS salary
This is also part of the hidden yardage battle, weāre in agreement in a round about way (even if you donāt agree lol). Punt returning isnt just about punt return yards
Not a locker room fit. He didnāt have the GRIT necessary to be in Detroit. Did not think he added to the culture.
This makes sense to me, especially given Danās comments about getting back to their roots and rekindling the fire under their asses for lack of a better term.
You have to wonder if this really is the case. I donāt think anyone is going to come right out and say it, but stranger things have happened. Regardless, they let him go and he used his freedom to go elsewhere. Good enough for me.
And if they truly wanted him back during the season, just sign him off the Bills practice squad. Heās not on a 53 man roster.
Reason & Common Sense will prevail !
Iām under belief that Petzing sent him over there for a week so we can get some intel for game 2
Right. Thank goodness they decided to cut Dortch instead of Saint & Laporta.
.

Who f wanted that again?
Another theory:
Video of blocking issues in the pre-season? (no block, no rock) (Not All-22, first time Iāve heard of these guys, but maybe onto something) https://x.com/TheGreyManes/status/2094846616842698911
One other thing: Leaf had grit and as a comp, Dortch didnāt live up to the standard set by Raymond for a smaller WR.
I just went down a rabbit hole were I looked up the snap count, target share and production of the Lions WR4-WR6 the last 4 years and now Iām even more angry Iād argued about there importance
The Lions WR 5 has been Tom Kennedy for years now based on snaps played but now its a crime in roster management he might still be?
TLDR:
No block no rock.
To be honest I love Tom Kennedy. Let Tom play! Tom is tough, he looked solid returning punts in 2025 and he can catch. Let Tom play!
With Dortch saying he was surprised to be cut the Lions most not have wanted him back. Guess they cut him because they truly didnāt want him on the roster?
Looks that way. But all 32 teams passed on him. I aināt gonna lose sleep about losing Dortch. In fact I find it pretty funny posters being upset about a guy no one claimed to their active roster.
Heās now on a practice squad, which is great and where he likely is best. Just not in Detroit
