Well, it’s banned. So, something was wrong with injury wise.
In 5 years nobody will f****** care.

Last year on average it happened about 1 time per game and resulted in approximately 1 injury per league week. So we should pay attention to the rates the flags fly for it this season.
Penalty forthcoming: Amik Robertson trying to tackle a 6’7" 260 lb TE.
Oh, people will ■■■■■■■ care when what used to be a normal tackle gets called a personal foul in a key moment based on a stupid refs’ interpretation of what’s legal or not. Stuff like this puts the fates of games even more in the refs’ hands now.
This will especially be the case with Lions safeties who are brutal tacklers and teeter on the edge of what’s legal or not get called for illegal hits more regularly. You’ll see…
This is getting ridiculous
Said it in the other thread and will say it again:
Refs are going to purposely call regular tackles “hip drop” tackles to rig games for its darling teams. It won’t take long.
Sam LaPorta might be the happiest guy about this one. This rule change genuinely could help him get to the Hall of Fame.
The absolute biggest problem with this is it gives incompetent refs another avenue to be subjective and further influence the game outcomes
Was just writing the same sentiment as you were posting this. Spot on
If Green Bay beats us in the playoffs because they said Branch hip dropped tackled someone on what would have been our game winning defensive stand….
We’ve all seen this script before
Our new DT is not happy about this rule
Just watched the NFL tape showing the examples. This rule is going to become an issue.
Someone mentioned above the average was this happened once a game. I am betting right now we see more than 1 flag a game calling this.
No way a ref in real time can make a judgement on if the defender “left his feet”.
Some will be obvious but others just no way
Hello the year is 2030 and today we have playing Madden for the 2030 Detroit Lions Penei Sewell and for the New York Jets Garrett Wilson can Penei keep the Lions playoff hopes alive in the NFL E Sports week 17 football electric boogaloo
We will start recruiting E Sports teams to be the new “atheletes”
How long until they institute a weight limit for ball carriers? Seriously how is a DB suppose to tackle Derrick Henry or pretty much any 250+ pound TE when they have 50 to 70 pounds on them.
Only chance to get them down is to spear the knees out from under them. Can’t blame Kerby at all.
In the end… it’s just another rule that creates more offense and the NFL wants that.
If he can avoid the kneecap shots that is.
For as bad as this is, I still think “illegal contact” is a worse penalty.
I can see it right now 4th and 17th lions stop them short but here comes the flag and lions lose
In a time when we are questioning officials more then ever. The league wants to institute more rules that allow for more judgement calls. Yet not allow for more options to correct the bad calls?
Don’t care how you slice this. Its a bad look and any objective person would question the motive. They never talk about fixing the poor officiating. The latter actually happens. They create avenues for it to get worse.
Agreed… step 1 if they cared should be full time refs that are training year round and held accountable for terrible calls. This is the biggest sports league in the world and have part time refs… many of which are senior citizens. No offense meant to old people
Haha he nailed it. It’s funny because it’s true. Well done Grossi.
Yeah, I made a mention of this earlier in regards to LaPorta. Lets be clear though, LaPorta is on a HoF trajectory without any of these rules but with this new one, he’s going to feast on a ridiculous level. Just keep loading up on them offensive weapons Brad because defenders aren’t going to matter much before long.
And lol at Grossi, that’s one his best videos. Pretty much spot on
