How do we stop Jayden Daniels?

This would have been a great game to have Rodrigo … our LB’s are going to need to show some serious fundamentals and foot speed to keep Daniels in check.

Daniels is young, but he is the real deal. Hopefully it’s good we are catching him now, before he turns into Lamar 2.0

Here’s the thing… if they score 23 against us like they did the Bucs, they’re gonna lose 43-23. I’m OK with that.

I won’t be. I want a playoff 50 spot.

I think we route them and Daniels puts up a couple late tds in garbage time to make the score look better. Something like…

Lions 38 - Wash 27

Lions rush for 250 yards. Just win baby!

Not good enough!!!

I want scalps. Dem Injuns circled our wagon train in 92. After three decades of dysentery it’s time to make it to the promised land

Tell the Chiefs to knock it off first.

Personally, I would spy with LBer of Iffy.
I would have Ends push hard to contain and worry less about sacks

I would also use more zone than normal so when he does get out we can see it and aren’t running down field with backs turned.

But we hate spying on the QB :man_shrugging:

I referenced that yesterday.
There was a play in the TB game where Daniels was able to complete a key pass late in the game. Announcer pointed out how TB had two guys spying on Daniels during the play. A great picture of how it aided the play being successful for the pass completion

I remember that play. Missed assignment, right? Two spies? Can’t recall seeing that before.

Washington scored 23 points. If that’s what they score against us, we win.

I don’t think so… It’s like they were convinced Daniels was running on that play. He wasn’t. But with those RPO’s that is the challenge for defenses. For an olineman I don’t know how you avoid illegal man downfield though.

But then they’re not really “spies” like Collinsworth said, right? If they just overreacted to the run action that is different.

Spies with different responsibilities depending on formation, presnap reads is my guess.

So hard vs the RPO though. Cause he can pull that ball and throw at any time. Real hard for d-ends and linebackers. Can’t take the eye candy

So then it was a miscommunication in a way, no? I just can’t imagine Bowles’ plan was to play 9 on 10 taking the QB out of it.

Don’t know. But the defenders didn’t look frustrated after the play. Didn’t see them talking or shaking heads. Might need to watch it again though. This is why PFF scores mean so little. We are just guessing.

Either way I don’t AG using any spies. Linebackers are gonna have to be very disciplined. Iffy may play a big role as the big safety in the box. Make Daniels throw and if he runs make him pay for it.
