I was wrong about Jared Goff

It’s something that someone mentioned to make it sound like they are smarter than they are.

I think Goff made a big jump this year. He handles pressure better and not talking about in your face pressure. Earlier when things went wrong Jared seem to lose confidence witch caused kinda of as snowball effect. And things just seem to get worse. Now he misses a play and just keeps coming back and makes a few. Last few games were not his best but he still fond away to make plays when they counted. Doesn’t seemed rattled like before just keeps fighting. I see a big improvement in him when things start to go wrong.

He is fine.
We don’t need to panic to make sure we draft the next “Kyler Murray”!

Yea too bad the 60 yard Jamo TD was called back! That flea flicker was a beauty throw. We won so it really doesn’t matter. But that was Goff’s 30th TD and would have put him up to 4500 yards. Only 7 ints in 17 games is extremely impressive.

Right now I’d take Goff over Stafford no question.

Goff played as well now as Stafford ever did in Detroit other than 1 year over a decade ago. I’d take Stafford in his prime over Goff right now, but next year for 1 year I’m sticking with Goff.

That throw to Raymond was a TD as well. Absurd they called him down at the one

Y’all know I was team Goff from the get go. Really proud of this team all around. It’s disappointing Rams didn’t take care of business yesterday but ending the Packs season is about as sweet as it gets

You undersold this a bit, he had the best TD/Int ratio in the league despite having a TD vulture on the team as you mentioned. I’m not sure he’s elite, but his decision making this year has been elite, he was also one of the lowest sacked QB’s which also speaks to that.

I think that’s one of the top 20 something best seasons for TD:Int ratios in NFL history

I think Goff has proven himself but what still concerns me the financial piece. 99% of us want the Lions to extend him and also want us to make some big free agent splashes. Instead of getting two high paid guys next year, maybe only get one and save some money back. Let’s not kid ourselves, Goff is going to make top 5 QB money. We don’t want to strap ourselves like Green Bay with Rodgers. If we can pay for more of his contract up front, then is will be sustainable.

Most people didn’t sit through this monstrosity and thus dont understand how truly awfully terrible craptastic this truly is.

Warren Beatty is a genius though…he set out to prove General Relativity by creating a 1:45 minute movie that you swear to God lasted 6 excruciating hours.

17 people chewed off their own arms…just so they had a slightly greater pain to take the focus off of what their minds were going through.

The only thing better than Goff right now…

My original attitude was that it was impossible to tell whether Goff was the long-term solution until the rest of the team was at least decent.

My question now is not whether Goff is good enough to win with; he obviously is. The question is whether he’s worth what it’s going to cost to extend him, versus what we could lock a first-round draft pick into for seven years.

This is the takeaway. Glenn is back next year.

It shouldn’t. Teams manage it all the time. It’s part of the reality of having a good quarterback. Do you think the Chargers are fretting about paying Herbert or the Bills thought twice about paying Allen?

What hurts is paying a guy like Murray or wasting draft resources on guys like Darnold, Baker, etc.

People act as if Brady taking less than market in his prime was anything close to normal. It wasn’t and it’s not. Having that as an expectation is foolish and will lead to disappointment.

Goff will get a market contract (huge), and that’s way better than the alternative of not having a good quarterback.

If something is bad, I typically won’t watch the entire thing. The worst movie I ever saw in its entirety was an Adam Sandler movie - Jack and Jill. The only reason why I saw the whole thing was because I was doing cardio in the movie room at the gym and it was what was playing at the time. Absolutely horrific.

I can see the narrative shifting before my eyes!

People Then: “Goff needs to prove that he’s the man, and play better! We should use a 1st round pick on a QB.”
People Now: “Goff played at such a high level that we can’t afford him anymore, we need to use a 1st round pick on a QB.”

think tom and jerry GIF

Yep

I’m pretty sure you are just agreeing with me. We need to manage it. And like I said in the rest of statement. Being more frugal this year than people might want to is how we manage it.

If you were ‘wrong’ about Goff… don’t sweat it… so was Sean McVay

I paid to see this movie at the theater when it came out. I am convinced it had to be 2.5 hours at a minimum. While I still have both arms, I can understand and empathize 17 individuals. I think everyone should have to see this movie…
