Isn’t Daniel Kelly the former scout that was a perv who got let go for A. Not being very good at his job B. Watching too much porn instead of writing scouting reports while being on the road?

Good Times Nostalgia GIF by Sony Pictures Television

Was just reading about him on Reddit. How does this guy have a job?

Other highlights

  • Called Gibbs a round two roleplayer who isn’t good at running between tackles and can’t beat defenses to the edge
  • Bijan Robinson was soft and should be a third round pick
  • Thought Trevor Lawerence would bust
  • Malik Cunningham would be better than AR15 & Levis.
  • Carson Strong would be a franchise QB
  • Put a late second to third round grade on Jordan Davis
  • Said Penei Sewell would and was a bust a few games into his rookie year
  • Goff was a ‘shell of himself’ and Lions would draft Malik Willis at number two and he would be the most electric player since Barry Sanders
  • Matt Millen taught him how to read a QBs eyes and KC shouldn’t extend Mahomes because his eyes were sad and glassy

JJ is an amazing athlete /QB, don’t know what you guys are missing. The play where he jumps up 5 ft catches the ball whirls around and hits his WR 20 yards downfield was mind blowing.

Great question, he somehow squirreled his way into getting a road NFL scouting job for one year. I think he wrote letters to every organization and somehow got really lucky?

After one year in the NFL got fired, and now that’s allowed his resume to carry him until today just because the resume says “NFL” on it

I mean I would love for the Lions to get the UM corner. And they have a couple of DTs that are game wreckers.

Listen this may be hard for everyone to grasp but I draw a very very hard line between college and pro.

For instance I was super pumped the Lions took Hutch because I knew he was a really good nut and would continue to improve. and would never do something stupid to wreck his career.

I loved KW3 but I was worried he was a bit brittle. And sadly it is obvious that he struggles to stay on the field.

And finally, I am always a bit concerned about Georgia and Bama players. Mostly because in the case of Bama for sure, Saban runs such a locked down program the players have a tendency to get sideways as a pro. Now clearly not everyone because the Lions has 3 studs. But my concern is always that the players has not needed to be self motivated to get it done.

I usually like UM linemen in the Pros. I am not a big fan of the UM skill players in the pros. Corum has bust written all over him. Undersized and not crazy fast. A classic really good college back who at best becomes a situational guy in the pros. I actually think Edwards has a much higher ceiling in the Pros.

Anyway, I do not hate JJ. I just think he is a middling prospect as far as a QB. He has nice potential due to his athletic ability and his arm strength. And he is a really good nut. So he has all the things needed. But that is not enough to make it. And he is not even a top 5 guy right now in college.

Time will tell. I was shocked Stroud has done so well. And if I was to pick a prospect I would rather have JJ over Bryce Young or even Tue if I am honest. I do not like small QBs in todays NFL. The defense and the players overall are just too large and fast to have a smaller human at QB. Low percentage move IMO. So in that regard I do like JJ as he is a bigger strong kid. But he has not shown the ability to make touch throws and win a game by himself. I kind of feel like at least at UM he is a QB you win with not because of. Just my opinion and again I have been wrong. But it is not because he plays at UM. Penix…now that is a guy I dream about…he spins it and drops it in places that do not even make sense. The only reason Monday night might be a game is because of Penix.

You and me both, goes to show how good Michigan really has been to beat him like that, with the WR’s he’s had.

We have not even seen what JJ McCarthy is truly capable of because Coach runs a 90s offense. Harbaugh is a really good coach…but he does not make QBs better or prepare them for the NFL.

Jim Harbaugh wasn’t even a decent NFL QB. How he remained a starter for so long is beyond me. He has yet to turn a Michigan QB into anything.

Die hard Michigan fan and hope Harbaugh gets it done Monday. But I honestly won’t be sad to see him go. It’s crazy to say because he might go down as the best coach ever. I’m just not a fan of his personally…call me crazy :man_shrugging:t2:

JJ has elite talent. The right situation turns him into a franchise type guy imo. He shouldn’t be judged based off of what he’s done at Michigan.

What if his boss told him to go find some penetrators? It all could have been an honest mistake.

Jj has a big arm is mobile and can throw on the run. 73% completion rate and a 170 rating. He’s not in an offense that lets him do too much and he has average receivers. Michigan is a run first team so JJ is just doing what they ask. If he played in Ohio state or Washington’s systems he would get many more opportunities. Imo his growth has been stunted at Michigan and another year wouldn’t hurt. But if he goes and gets drafted this year I would hope they would develop him like gb did love. The type of offense that Michigan runs would probably scare away a lot of top qbs and this may be why they lost underwood to LSU.

Of course he can be. He’s a first rounder just based on upside alone. He has every tool you want. I selfishly hope he returns for another year though.

I wasnt impressed with jj against Bama but that’s really the only game i watched (besides Michigan thrashing my huskers).

Not impressed…LOL… fricken crazy Amazing!

I’m a Michigan fan and I don’t think he is a NFL QB. I wouldn’t want him on the Lions but what the hell do I know?

I see it as the exact opposite. Corum will be the better of the 2 backs in the NFL. He’s NFL ready today as an every down RB.

Edwards is a situational guy at best. He may be in the NFL for 5-6 years but will never amount to much IMO. While Corum is a 1,000 yard rushing RB.

As far as QB’s go, I was not the least bit surprised by Stroud. I said as much on this board. If the Lions felt the need to draft a QB last year, Stroud was the only one I would take.

I think JJ is still a kid that is saying/doing all the right things. He has NFL star abilities but I think they are 2 years away and only come out IF he goes to the right situation. I would hope he stays at Michigan 1 more year and then sits behind a good NFL starting QB for at least a year.

If he gets drafted and is expected to start right away…I see Zach Wilson. He just isn’t ready.

If he has at least a year in the pros under a good QB…I see great things. I could easily see him being drafted by a team like the Rams.

You have a high bar for "decent

Guy starts for a decade. Multiple 10 win seasons. Takes the Colts to the playoffs for the first time in two decades and all the way to the championship game. Earns the nickname Captain Comeback

Who does? Very few programs put guys in the NFL and most of the guys drafted from highly successful programs are only drafted because of their programs’ status and have disappointing careers.

Going back to 2008 (Flacco) schools who produced QB who got significant playing time in 2023: Delaware, Georgia, TCU, MSU, A&M, Wisconsin, WVU, Eastern Illinois, Fresno State, Northwestern, FSU, Other MSU, Cal, Tennessee, Iowa, Clemson, TTU, UNC, OSU, Louisville, Wyoming, USC, OU, WSU, NDSU, Auburn, Mizzou, Duke, OU, OU, USU, Oregon, Tide, LSU, Tide, Buckeyes, BYU, Clemson, ISU, UNC, WKU, Cincy, Pitt, BYU, UCLA, Houston, Purdue, UK, Florida, Buckeye, Tide

I might have missed a couple and deliberately skipped UDFA

Point is, there are no QB schools. Oklahoma (Murray, Hurts), Clemson (Watson, Lawrence), Buckeyes (Fields, Stroud) had little runs but that is more random clumping than ongoing excellence. That Harbaugh hasn’t successfully put QB in the league isn’t any more predictive of JJ’s success than USC’s relative failure is for Williams

I don’t think Corum will have a great career. Edwards either.

I also doubt Corum will be considered a bust. That would imply he fails to meet expectations. I see him as a late round guy who can be a capable third down back for a few years. Smart, trustworthy, can block, catch a pass.
