Jamo update

His 5th year is only guaranteed for injury when it gets picked up.

Idiot or not Brad Holmes has bet on much less reliable players than Jameson Williams one year deals

The problem I have with Jamo is that heā€™s someone I donā€™t ever think anyone that has heard him talk mistakes him for a smart guy. They used to say he was just quirky and uncomfortable in his interviewsā€¦but even if you are quirky and uncomfortable, you can still tell if thereā€™s some intelligence thatā€™s not getting through, I just donā€™t see that in him. So maybe heā€™s dumb and immature I guess.

Exactly. The Chiefs Rashee Rice was playing this year pre injury because the wheels of justice turn slowly.

It is not only guaranteed as soon as it is picked up - regardless of injury - but 4th year salary becomes guaranteed as well

Williams would be guaranteed over $15M. Almost no chance we see this

If Jamo had been alone in the vehicle, what the cops who called said would have been true but the fact that Jamoā€™s brother had a CPL negates the issue. Perfectly legal for Jamo to be in a vehicle and for a pistol that he legally owns to be transported by a CPL holder (his brother) in the same vehicle. It would only be a violation if Jamo was carrying the weapon on his person, which he was not, it was under the seat. This is a huge nothingburger, if he gets charged it will get thrown out.

You are incorrect

Iā€™ll bet $100 it gets picked up or he signs an extension.

There is no NFL deal thatā€™s guaranteed for suspension unless it was specifically written that way. See Watsonā€™s ā€œfully guaranteedā€ deal being voidable if he gets another suspension

If his 5th year option gets picked up and he gets suspended for half that season the Lions arenā€™t on the hook for the full amount.

Which part was he incorrect with? I know i have seen multiple michigan based lawyers have been saying that you only need one individual in the car to have a cpl

And if he is wrong on that i believe jamo needs a new lawyer

ā€œThe gunā€™s properly registered,ā€ said Flood. ā€œThereā€™s not an issue with regards to that. Heā€™s not the driver of the vehicle. His brother is. There was a CPL holder in the car. That kind of immunizes the fact that itā€™s standard practices and protocols are followed, there wouldnā€™t be a criminal charge filed.ā€

DJ Chark got 10 million fully guaranteed dollars from Brad Holmes coming off a season in which he played 4 games.

But thereā€™s no way Jamo gets 15M when the salary cap is projected 130 million more than it was when Chark got his deal?

Sorry to disagree. There is no law that reads that the gun has to be on your person. Brothers CPL covered both guns.

The proper sequence is the volunteer that info before being asked. Thatā€™s the law. Secondly, if you show a CPL, the police would never ask to see the gun. They would tell you not to touch it.

Defense attorney says they do not.

Well, Iā€™m 100% for the officers asking for the CPLā€™s and registration and if thatā€™s not the case, it should be. If you donā€™t want things checked out, lie to the cop.

Absolutely asinine that Jamo didnā€™t have a CPL.

Not according to the defense attorney in Youtube video I posted above.

Well, duh, itā€™s Jamoā€™s attorney, he cantā€™ admit that Jamo was wrong.

They didnā€™t volunteer the info until asked, and the officer asked them not to touch it. The problem is that Jamo didnā€™t have a CPL, which the officer and the defense attorney I linked above said is a violation.

He also isnt the only lawyer in michigan to claim as much. My point for linking his lawyers defense was just to highlight what their strategy was nothing more and if his strategy doesnt align with the letter or even spirit of the law then jamo needs a new lawyer.

Again my only point of contention here has been around the legal defense and more importantly in my mind the potential for a suspension.

I will not know what to think if the nfl suspends him again for a procedural issue when

jack jones does the following: " He was charged with two counts each of unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device and possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card ."

And derion kendrick does the following:

And neither received any suspension. I understand that he may have broken the michigan laws technically but these guys had more egregious gun charges only to be free and clear in the eyes of the nfl. Other players have gotten the same treatment as i highlighted in the database i shared earlier in this thread. Yet we, the media, are almost predicting jamo gets suspended for it.

Make that make sense for me please?

So i was talking to my brothers and cousins who have CPLā€™s in michigan and a few are cops and retired prison guards. Iā€™m hazy on the michigan gun laws bc iā€™ve lived most of my adult life in PA, MD and VA. Apparently, he is super lucky, its a felony and jail time if found guilty.

The other gun guys can correct me of course. But every CPL class iā€™ve gone to always said if you get pulled over you let the officer know you are carrying to avoid any misunderstandings ans you present them w your ID and CPL. So more then likely the brother announced it and when they verified they realized JAMO was not CPLā€™d. Had he just had it out in the open he would have been good since michigan is a open carry state.

Laughs in Cameron Sutton

Decent article in the freep

References to the mazi smith and emoni bates situations. Mazi charged felony plead down to misdemeanor and emoni had the charges dropped.

I see that they can charge him with a felony, the former prosecutor they reference in the article feels that it may be a bit difficult due to the situation but thinks they could.

I again come back to how it can impact his eligibility and i just dont see how the nfl can suspend him for it without being inconsistent with the various ways they have approached these situations. Regardless, it may be awhile (the offseason even) before we get any real resolution here.

No one is saying that it has to be on his person, but the defense attorney above in linked youtube video says that in order for a personā€™s CPL license to cover another personā€™s gun, both people must have CPL licenses.

That defense attorney also thinks that the officers properly used their discretion by not issuing a warrant/citation, but by the letter of the law, JAMO was in violation.
