We shall see. I just really don’t think Sorsdal’s got the feet for anything except RG, which he’s shown whenever he gets an opportunity elsewhere. I like the mental side of his game so maybe he could take some center reps, but even then I’d be worried about his feet. I also think Awosike is above Sorsdal on the depth chart, especially since he’s one of the few who can play LG.
I agree with you there. However Awoiska is an RFA and hesnt been offered a deal as of yet.
Well see if hes brought back
When did we do it last year?
I can’t imagine Awosika will get a RFA tender offer from Lions.
The lowest tender this year is $3.185 million per OTC.
It was the 11th hour before FA started.
However he was an ERFA last year. Now hes an RFA. I could be wrong but i dont see them putting the RFA tag on him
We know he is. Kayode started a couple games and lost his game day spot to Mahogany. Did Sorsdal dress once all season?
Things can change in the offseason of course
Wow yea way too much for an 8th olineman. Be better to draft another guard in mid rounds. You could still sign Kayode back though cheaper without tendering him.
That’s a 4th 2-5ths and a 6th compwise.
Go shopping after draft for depth Maybe get one above average guy before draft.
That would give us four extra draft picks next year.
Huh? Replied to the wrong guy?
Though I’ve seen the Lions praise Manu for his progress, he might not yet, or ever, be ready to take over at LT for Decker, who showed cracks. I believe, in the earlier rounds of the draft, that T could still be in play (both LT and/or RT). RT could be in play due to the possibility of Sewell moving to his more natural position of LT. ![]()
Can’t wait to see how this all shakes out.
In theory Manu and Mahogany could be the starting guards. Manu is blocked at left tackle by Decker but when drafted he said the Lions told him he’d be trained at guard. That obviously changed last year but who knows?
I’d prefer Zeitler back 1 more year though. And keep developing Manu at tackle. But we have options.
I was a proponent of Sorsdal last year but he really regressed.
Sorsdal was not on the 2-deep at any position this season.
When the Lions needed a tackle they chose Skipper and Jones from the Practice Squad.
When they needed a guard Right or Left they chose Kayode and Mahogany.
Most games Sorsdal wasn’t even active.
Sorsdal was healthy all year and played 5 Special Teams snaps.
There were at least 10 Lion O-lineman that played more.
I don’t think the staff have the patience to carry an unplayable 3rd year Lineman.
Other than the starting 5 these guys would be ahead of Sorsdal.
Versatility. Dan Skipper has shown the ability to play both Tackles and guard if needed.
He has earned the respect and trust of this staff. They know that if they need to play him at guard or tackle he will fight and scrap and get the job done.
They have shown that they would much rather have him on the 53 than Sorsdal.
Kayode won’t be tendered but that doesn’t preclude Holmes from bringing him back on a minimum deal.
He played in front of Sorsdal all year.
Why would Sorsdal be on the 53 in front of him.
Kayode would have a cheaper contract and has performed better.
Manu has progressed to the point I expect him to be playable next year. But even if he isn’t, Manu will get one more year on the 53.
2025 Rookie: Holmes is expected to draft an O-lineman and his spot on the 53 is almost guaranteed (if taken in the first 5 rounds).
If Zeitler returns Glasgow would also be on the bench and as the first interior line sub.
Skipper & Manu as reserve Tackles with Decker & Kayode the Interior reserves with an additional rookie Inactive.
Sorsdal, Muti, Eguakun, Galvin and Jones on the PS.
I wholeheartedly believe Sorsdal know what he is up against going into year 3.
Both Dan and Brad spend a lot of time interviewing draft prospects, they will only draft players that have the intestinal fortitude to do whatever it takes to be the best they can be.
Sorsdal needs to go into this offseason and build his body, footwork and knowledge of the positions on the O-line like his career depends on it.
If Sorsdal comes into camp in 2025 as 30 percent improved, he will be on the team. The question? Will he work his a$$ off to do this? I am a yes.

I don’t think it has ever been an issue with effort for Sorsdal.
He just isn’t a good enough athlete.
His feet are slow… and he doesn’t have a naturally powerful base.
That is a tough combo in the NFL.
@MittenSportsFan nailed it just above…
there were 10 OL players that played snaps in 2024…
and Manu wasn’t one of them…
which means Sorsdal was the #12 OL guy on the team this season.
He would need Glasgow to be cut, Zeitler to leave/retire, and Awosika to leave to move up to the #8-9 spot.
And that assumes Muti can’t get/stay healthy and they don’t sign or draft anybody in the top 4 rounds.
I think Sorsdal needs a miracle to make the 53-man roster.
I want to play the comp pick game this year. Stay away from the standard UFAs. Wait until after the draft and they don’t count toward pick compensation. There are always plenty of other FAs available like cap casualties. We will also have a 3rd coming in that draft from AG.
IMO
Likely to be re-signed
- Tim Patrick
- Dan Skipper
- Derrick Barnes
Likely to not be re-signed
- Allen Robinson
- Marcus Davenport
- Emmanuel Moseley
Unsure
- Carlton Davis
- Kevin Zeitler
- Levi Onwuzurike
For the unsure, I’d lean towards not re-signing any of them. It may depend on the draft. They have younger players at OG and DT who are likely ready for some playing time. Davis may depend on other CB options available in FA.
I think if we keep Glasgow as OL6 on a restructure deal and Zeitler RG 1 year deal
By his 4th year Sorsdal could be ready to take over as a backup IOL/RT
That would be next level talent development
If we can replace Glasgow with Sorsdal
I think Sorsdal can play center
As well as RG/RT
By his 4th year Sorsdal could be ready to take over as a backup IOL/RT
I have my doubts that Sorsdal will continue to develop based on the fact that he supposedly changed his body over last offseason, was injury free all season and was still virtually unplayable.
But you’re still saying maybe year 4.
What does Dan do with him in 2025?
Should he carry him on the 53 man roster again as a healthy scratch all year when there are better players on the Practice Squad?
Brad usually carries HIS draft picks on the 53 for 3 years but Sorsdal may end that if doesn’t have a very good camp.
We carried 11 OL much of the year so I think he could be safe for 1 more year
But like James Mitchell 5th round pick, he got cut after 2 years so it’s very realistic that if Sorsdal doesn’t jump then he could get waived.
I think Sorsdal will develop.
BroMart not so sure about he just seems too soft and not good enough at the game of football.
