Tampa’s DL kicked ass… the rest of the defense…not so much. Have to find stats on his Jet years as the DC.

Based on the name that sounds like will be named DC later today, the first pick here makes even more sense

Are you sure for DC or to replace T. Williams as DL coach and Run Game Coordinator?
Its a good guess. In addition to being the dl coach he was also co defensive coordinator. His scheme would probably be similar to Glenn’s.
DC and the Lions need to stop screwing around
with this and get it right. You want a Super Bowl
hire Robert Saleh or Dennis Allen! We don’t need
a repeat of the last two years in Post season where
the defense is nowhere to be found when you need
them.

You could find many of them on the IR, quite easy to find them.

Am i 100%? No. Am I confident it’s a really really good educated guess based on what i’ve heard from multiple sources and subtle little tea leaves on x? 100%.
Its a great question to wonder though tbh.
I do not ever guess unless i have multiple people saying the same thing bc early on if i guessed wrong people would say “i thought you know people, your people are wrong”.
If he doesn’t get the Jags head coaching job, I would go for Saleh.

Listen, i get that this is Jeff Risdon, who some do have… issues with, but i do think it’s somewhat notable for him to drop this nugget.
Seems like this is happening today (Maybe), and if not, prolly the next couple days atleast
Seems like a canidate is truly solidified.
Al Harris is really intriguing. Basically AG 2.0.
I believe @QBHATER90 mentioned he knows Jeff. So I’m guessing these are connected lol. @QBHATER90 are you in west Michigan also like Jeff? I live in Zeeland near Jeff.
they might be
found this while on Bluesky (added all the beat guys that were there)
and noticed it, so its why i posted it.
again, no idea if its happening or not today (Beat guys can be off at times) but it seems like there is a guy at least for DC selected.
Frankly I would be over the moon if we got Harmon, Ayomanor and Nohl Williams.

I like those guys as well, but really want an Edge early.
I’m aware, most do. And I’d be fine with it as well. But I wouldn’t reach for a need either if the value doesn’t line up. And for me if Harmon’s there at the end of the 1st, no edge available would come close. Same with Ayomanor in the 2nd unless an edge randomly dropped much further than he’s being mocked right now. And in the 4th you wouldn’t be drafting an edge starter anyway, and I think Williams has it in him to be a star.
Of course the 3rd round comp pick isn’t in this draft, so maybe an edge could be targeted there (though honestly I think it will take at least that for Williams by draft day).
Kacey Rodgers. I would put money on this guess.
He just interviewed for the Packers D-line coach. Maybe the Lions will bring him in to replace Williams.
I hate looking at profiles on coaches and be left with a “good grief, this dude is OLD” impression based on their coaching history, just to look at their birthdate and seeing they’re younger than me.

I have a feeling Holmes may attack the D-Line as he did the secondary over the last couple of years.
Holmes seemed to tire of the secondary being an issue and invested considerable resources to address it with Arnold, Rake, Amik, and CD3 in the same offseason after getting Branch and Sutton the prior year.
Alim and Wingo may start the season on PUP, Levi is probably gone, Za and Reader are on the last year of their contracts, while Paschal has been mediocre at best.
I think Holmes attacks the D-line the same way he did the secondary and selects a DT and Edge early (even if means trading up) while also bringing back Davenport inexpensively.
Of course the board would have to fall appropriately so as not to reach.
Ayomanor is a nice player but he would still be WR3 and Patrick could be brought back to fill that role for $5M or less.
Holmes just said he experienced how difficult it is to find Edges that can rush the passer. I think he does what he has to do to get his own young pass rusher in the draft.

Good thinking. I agree…with no info…think it’s a solid thought.
Certainly possible.
I just don’t think our DL is in as dire straits as our secondary was last year, the injuries just make it seem that way. Yes, we need to improve. Yes, Zadarius and Reader are only short term solutions, but you advocate for Patrick who is also a short term solution.
I understand our needs and WR isn’t at the top. But if the best player is a WR, I’m taking a WR. That’s just my draft philosophy. And while Brad hammered our CB need last year, he has also drafted players highly at position of relative strength. No one thought we’d take a RB early when we signed Monty, but he was our first pick that year. No one thought we’d go LB early that year early (which Brad referenced in his press conference), but we did. Same at TE.
It’s best when BPA and needs match up, but it doesn’t always work out that way. But I know this, taking a lesser player because of a need is the best way to draft busts.
I’m saying this same thing in another thread, but I don’t think anything about this roster will alter or skew the draft process. BPA all the way. No “need” ascends to the point that the decisions will be weighed by them.
RB, TE, WR, OT, OG, DE, LB, CB, S…
You could add to each one via draft, udfa or 2nd/3rd wave of free agency. We have such a solid nucleus of players with diverse depth. It’s why I don’t understand the “window” talk by the national media at all.
