Matt Miller's top 600

Oh for sure, I didn’t mean to imply he wasn’t. Players, though, not positions.

And I actually think him doubling up is an example of him going BPA over need. After he made the 1st pick at the position the need lessened considerably against other spots. Many thought Rakestraw was overkill last year after drafting Terrion and adding Amik and Davis, while a lot of people thought that of Alim too (mostly because they were dying for a WR). And don’t forget Paschal after drafting Hutch. People really wanted us to go LB there.

And 2023 stands as a true masterpiece of player over position. Many were clamoring for us to draft Bijan early in the process, but that died down drastically once we gave Monty the big contract. The vast majority of us were either on CB like Witherspoon, Gonzalez, Branch or Porter, edge like Nolan Smith (who I believe was our pick in the board mock), or - and I think this was the case for most people - Jalen Carter the DT. Actually, yeah, here’s the result of our poll that year.

Well you know the rest. We ended up with Branch, but at 50-something instead of 18 where he was most often mocked. Then RB, LB, TE. Needs, for sure, but not needs anyone thought we would be drafting early, which is pretty easy to see when you go back and look.

But yes, big picture I think they all ask themselves something like, “would you rather have Harmon and Oladejo or Ezeiruaku and JT Sanders?” Those sorts of comparative combos. But they don’t have to only include DTs, edges, and OL.
