I don’t think you worry about a contract 3-4 years into the future. The Pistons should be in win now mode and the east is getting better all over the place. I’m not mad at what the Pistons have done this offseason but it truly feels like last year was their best chance to get to a finals, the east is won’t be as bad as it was last season for a long time so that was their chance to strike IMO.

Brother- you grew up a Buckeye, and chose to “Roll Tide,” and it’s given you a false sense of reality. Those two teams have more resources, spend more resources, and chest as much as anyone over the last 20 years and it shows.
The Pistons don’t have a Saban, and the Lions may not either, but we hope…
The Packers are down Doubs, Enagbare, Gary, Q Walker, Wicks, and lily J Jacobs from last year.
The Vikes are down H Smith, Greenard, Hargrave, Allen others.
The Bears are down DJ Moore, Dahlman, Edmunds, Byard, CJGJ, Wright and others.
Yet are worried about Anzalone and AQM?
Remember the all in Baker Browns with OBJ, Landry etc? Dolphins with Hill, Chubb, Ramsey, etc?
All those teams in the east did STUFF and for all but one it won’t matter. The Brown price seems low but he’s a cancer, and Embiid is cooked. Philly is exciting to 30 minutes.
Right now Duncan, Heurter, Joe and Collin’s are all in the 40% range. Lavert, Holland and a 1st will be traded for MPJ and suddenly it looks decent

Shedding no salary - their salaries basically match. As a Celtics die hard I want to throw up. This trade is making me so mad I can’t sleep tonight.
With that said - wtf are the Pistons doing? A back court of Cade and JB is something people only dream of. In addition to taking some of the scoring pressure off Cade… they’d make a killer combo on the defensive end. Again I’m a Cs fan, not a Pistons fan at all - but dang. What is Detroit doing?

I think he just has a shitty agent that he is letting handle everything without input. His agent is also the agent for a totally middling player Tari Eason on the Rockets who was also becoming an RFA and the team offered him a ridiculous $100MM contract and the agent turned down the offer.
So a few teams got better.
I dont think the pistons did enough to tell me their contenders. I see a few small trades like sassar and LeVert gone for picks other then JD this most likely is the roster. Shooting bettrr, defense is a lot worse

How can you not think every one of Holland, Ausar, Duren, and Cade are not better next year?
Langdon tried for the home run, but it takes two to play. Once Reaves, Strus and Leonard signed elsewhere, he had no moves. I don’t blame Langdon for that.
Duren has run out of options with the Lakers moving on and us laughing at the Kings offer of No-D, thirty year old Sabonis. TL played poker well with Duren. I just hope JD gets over being butt-hurt.
Collins isn’t my favorite player due to his D, but if we keep Duren at a reasonable contract, he’ll get over it and go to war with Cade and Ausar. Joe is also another dog on D, and Holland will def. improve his shot and handle. Remember, Holland is 20. Not even a true adult.
The only way the Collins and Joe moves make sense is if we keep JD. He’s going nowhere. He’s 22.
We’ve got to keep Dunkin. Huerter isn’t Dunkin, but he’s insurance, I guess. And better on D. But all of these moves work best if we keep Dunkin.
Yes, we don’t have a true number 2. 60-22 was a bit of a mirage, but we made progress over 2024. We may actually take a step back in 26, but we didn’t ruin the franchise’s basic buiding blocks.
Maybe we got a little worse short term. But we didn’t blow up our nucleus and put pieces in place to see what kind of player JD really is.
And as @Lyonfan1 says, free agency isn’t over. Bring in either MPJ or Trey Murphy and we win big time. I doubt it, but lets let it play out.
Trajan is playing the long game, and while a few of you don’t like it, the splash moves, more often than not, do not work out.

It’s the main reason Duren has begun to explore the market; however, another move by the Pistons’ other rival also worked in Detroit’s favor. Following the Lakers’ acquisition of Kessler, the Boston Celtics agreed to a three-year deal to sign center Mitchell Robinson from the New York Knicks.
Considering that two teams in need of big men have taken different paths to fill their vacancies, it seems likely Duren will rejoin the Pistons, given the market has dried up. The only other team that could land Duren is the Sacramento Kings in a sign-and-trade deal. However, a source confirmed to The Detroit News on Tuesday that the Pistons have “no interest” in a sign-and-trade deal.
The Pistons have been adamant about keeping Duren, whom they view as a long-term member of their core trio, which includes Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson.
Duren currently has two options, barring any unexpected developments. He can either agree to a long-term contract with the Pistons for less than his desired maximum of five years and $287 million, or he can play the upcoming season under the tendered qualifying offer of $9.6 million. If he chooses the latter option, he will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Talent wise I think both guys are pretty equal. I think it’s debatable who the better one is.
I think Collins is a much better fit for us though. By a mile. He is definitely going to help spread the floor helping take pressure off CC.
I think Murphy has been our target all along and I think he is the one we will be getting.

Pistons need a number two score still. You aren’t beating Miami, Philadelphia, New York, Toronto, Cleveland and probably Orlando.
This was always the way it was gonna be. The only people that didn’t understand that are some Piston fans and Jalen. His agent got into his head that teams would be scrambling for his services. 1. Not after his playoff run 2. There were very few teams with cap space and trade able pieces to make this happen.

And if you think about it, not wanting to come here, it makes sense. As a couple NBA guys on Sirius said last week, Brown would never be happy being the second go to guy in Detroit. This is Cade’s team first not Brown’s and that would lead to problem in their opinions.
Also,another couple of hosts this week commented on the fact that teams aren’t beating down the doors to acquire Brown, teams that could really use him, speaks volumes. It’s not a question of talent, is he talented, its the other issues that come with him that make teams hesitate.
