My gut tells me Holmes will not sign a starter in FA, just depth and try to fill starters in the draft.
I think he believes he is a Draft savant and can get a LT and C in the draft
What are the chances the Lions do nothing today?
High - the first day is for big boy contracts
Like I just posted I think the odds are high we don’t sign a starter, maybe a depth piece
99% we don’t have a high dollar signing today. Maybe a cheap re-up
Pretty sure we’ve been decently active the first day the last couple of years.
Last year I believe was DJ Reed. Year before was Davenport and CD3. Year before that was Cam Sutton.
That would be a mistake
Also DJ Reader was a first day agreement I believe.
Reader didn’t get signed until Thursday that week. He came in for a visit on Wednesday and signed Thursday afternoon around 2:00 central.
I remember exactly where I was. I’m usually at the beach for free agency because it’s usually spring break, so I usually remember what happens when. This year everything’s a week early though, so I don’t head down there until Thursday most likely.
Yeah, it’s unlikely they haven’t emerged as the frontrunner for at least one starter. They can restructure and with Decker, GG and Monty gone have cleared out $31m in cash commitments for 2026. And, uh, they have holes.
He’s due a bonus on the 5th day of the new year… Could bring some beans if a team whiffs in FA
Rumor* Lions interested in OT Rasheed Walker.
If they are, and do sign him, I hope it’s not too ver 15-16 M per.
is it ok if I share rumors on here? Or is this a thread to post just confirmed signings? I’ll just post anything I hear as an edit on this particular post.
*Lions will be heavily involved in trade conversations today (oh boy). Holmes expected to be active in OL market. They have a lot of day 3 picks and are willing to move for help in the trenches.
*Lions interested in S Taylor Rapp
You’re ideally supposed to cite your sources.
Rashawn Gary traded to Dallas. They are loading up.
My source is a friend that works for a major media company. I don’t need to be first or right. But I believe the two signings that I posted will happen.
They can afford both Gary and Trey?
Guys we need to stop with the afford stuff. Teams can free up 30M with a pen stroke. If the owner wants to go balls out teams can afford just about anything. Jones is very old and likely wants a ring before his battery runs out. The cowboys will likely go ballistic this week.
Agree. I am so sick of it. Feels like people are setting up excuses for Brad.
Good move for NYJ
I think lions sign Jermaine Eluemunor and then trade Decker
