Jerry can go ballistic all he wants - it’s still a circus down there. We don’t have to be the winners in Free Agency, but it would be nice if we address some of our deficiencies with players that aren’t bottom of roster churn guys.
. If Sheila was nearer to death and sick of no SBs the Lions could sign Hendrickson, two safeties, any OL they want, etc. it’s just about writing cheques for massive amounts upfront and unyielding desire to field a winner this year.
(Well, I mean, technically the Eagles could create more than $30m, but it’s a little more than a pen stroke because they would have to extend some contracts with void years and the player/agent need to agree to it)
So the Cardinals and Dolphins both took my advice and ripped off the bandaids with their albatross contract QBs. Better to keep your draft picks and eat the cap hit than to look for a team who will take the contract off your hands in exchange for draft picks ala Brock Osweiller.
I will patiently wait by the mailbox until my consulting checks show up.
The OL is the heart, soul and core of this team, and the key to keeping the Super Bowl window open. Signing Linderbaum is the one move above all others that most strengthens this team for now, and for the next few years.
The money is there to do it. I expect it to happen.
While I agree with this, especially with where we’re at right now, no team can just go sign all the players. There’s a reason even the big spenders let guys go all the time and go cheap at certain portions of their roster. The salarly cap is what separates the NFL from all the other leagues where teams try and buy success.
Yes, magic 8 ball is more talkative than normal today and it says free agency will be more frustrating than watching your meticulously reasoned Den mock draft being ripped to confetti by the Villain over 3 days. Enjoy.
Although he literally choked and stammered when he said it, Brad did use the term “window” in his combine presser not once but a few times. So we just might be surprised today.
