The Patricia apologists used to defend that god awful…“DL is supposed to contain so that the LBs can make plays concept.” Some of the worst defenses we ever saw.
Like a different guy.
It made no sense at all. You cannot give an NFL QB and WR extra time. It’s complete nonsense. Most CBs/LBs can’t cover that long. It’s absurd.
I liked Patricia at first but the moment I heard that, I was done. It is why I was one of the few who wanted him gone after year 1.
Justin Rogers: “We could justify putting Onwuzurike on this list simply for playing and finishing the game after two years of battling a bad back. But he was more than just a warm body out there against the Giants, contributing on a short-yardage stop, netting a tackle for loss and generally showing some of the explosiveness off the snap that had general manager Brad Holmes so excited to add him in the second round of the 2021 draft.”
Jeremy Reisman: " Levi Onwuzurike — No one really knew what to expect of Onwuzurike when he surprisingly avoided the Physically Unable to Perform list to start training camp. It’s been a slow start for the former second-round pick, as the Lions purposely have been easing him into the lineup. But with most of the third-team defense, Onwuzurike proved to be reliably disruptive—and more importantly—he came away uninjured after a healthy amount of playing time (22 snaps). He earned the second-highest PFF grade of any Lions player on Friday."
Good things happen for The Brand New Lions.
but @cap said he was too slow….
You guys better temper your emotions about Jack Campbell, he made plays yes, however he made plays against James Robinson and Eric Gray both who run 4.6+ 40s, I think Gray is a 4.62 and Robinson is at a 4.64. Robinson will probably not make the team. On the other hand Matt Breida runs a 4.38 40, plays against him would have been more telling. I am still in the wait and see camp. Making plays against the third and forth team RBs does not prove you to be an NFL caliber linebacker. Maybe Campbell can make plays against NFL caliber running backs, but I haven’t seen him do it yet. Hopefully I will.
GO LIONS!

What’s really crazy is Patricia’s first season the defense was actually decent. I think we had a top 15 unit. And then he and Quinn decide to trade away Diggs and Slay for peanuts and immediately the defense is dead last in football the next year, so stupid to get rid of your best players.
You guys better temper your emotions about Jack Campbell
Jack’s RAS is 9.98, 6th out of 2,648 linebackers since 1987, including elite 10 and 20 yard splits, three cone drill and short shuttle. It simply does not get any better than that for a 6 foot 5, 240-pound linebacker. Especially when they are a student of the game with great instincts.
If someone’s emotions need to be tempered about a Lions linebacker, it might not be everyone else.
For comparison’s sake, Urlacher scored a 10 and Kuechly a 9.99. That’s no guarantee Jack will have a career on par with those guys, but if he doesn’t it won’t be because he wasn’t quick or athletic enough. An elite 20 yard split is just fine, he won’t have to run a 40 in games very often.
Cap doesn’t know Jack.

Only 6th out of 2,648 linebackers? That sure is disappointing not being top 5. He will struggle for sure in the nfl
If you’re not first, you’re last. Ricky Bobby’s dad taught me that.
Watched some of the Green Bay game and Karl Brooks had good pressure and played solid overall
Still hurts to see him as a packer of all things tbh, id rather him a viking or bear than packer
They’ve got some serious talent on defense (they ought to, they’ve spent a ton of resources there), but as long as Joe Barry is running the show they will underachieve.
Outside of that safety core
might legit be one of the worst in the leagues rn
Savage hasn’t panned out but they spent a lot on him too. We’ll see how Simone Biles’s husband does opposite him, but for the most part I agree it’s not the greatest unit. Though I wasn’t happy they were able to steal Anthony Johnson so late in the draft, I thought he should have gone in the 3rd round.
I liked him better when he was anti-AA. He got a little traction from me with that. Anti-Captain Jack? That’s just wrong.

Right now Matt Milano is the 4th ranked linebacker in the NFL according to PFF his RAS was 6.95, Lorenzo Carter RAS was 10.0 he is ranked 83rd out of 118, according to PFF with. 60.5 PFF.
Get the picture, RAS scores don’t necessarily mean a top rated NFL linebacker.
By the way I am not anti Jack Campbell, I am wait and see Jack Campbell. You guys can drink the blue kool-Aid if you want to, I choose not to partake.
Campbell. You guys can drink the blue kool-Aid if you want to,
I invented the blue collard and hold the majority of the stock shares
I get the picture, I worry that you don’t. You complained about Jack covering a 4.62 running back. I showed you Jack’s 10 and 20 yard splits being elite. That means he’s quick enough to make plays in that range vs. other elite players. And he doesn’t just have quickness, but elite agility based on his other scores.
I said exactly: if Jack doesn’t become a total stud it won’t be physical traits holding him back and that RAS isn’t everything. You have questioned his speed and quickness, which is bogus amigo, and I’m just setting you straight on what we can expect from Jack as far as executing his assignments go.
You have questioned his speed and quickness, which is bogus amigo
How can my questioning Jack Campbell’s speed be bogus if I have no physical data to back the numbers. There is absolutely no physical NFL data supporting his “numbers” he has played ONE PRE-SEASON GAME, against 3rd and 4th string players. I want to see what he does against some of the NFL’s elite RBs, TEs and WRs. That is not to say he won’t perform well, that is to say “I” have yet to see elite speed with Jack Campbell. In comparison I have seen elite-speed with Gibbs, his elite speed is obvious, Jack’s is not. However we will see.
