Shhhh he will start complaining about Jack Campbell being the coaches pet again ![]()
I loved Matt Cain. Gamer of Scherzerian proportions.
Brewers gonna Brewer. They keep developing pitchers and toolsy yet disappointing hitters.
Thing is, they need ti eventually keep an Ace level guy and Freddy should be the one IMO.
Priester was a surprise and The Miz is a lot like 1968 Nolan Ryan right now ( meaning he’ll be fully ready in 3 years). Woodruff did the rare 2 yr shoulder issue bounceback good season and then they have some young 3/4 types. Gotta keep that guy, as they aren’t paying anyone on offense but Yelich, who is like 2 for 150 lifetime in thr playoffs. They are kinda like us w/o Skub…nice pieces but 100% not ready for the next step without their Big Guy.
Bondo had to have a rib removed mechanics weren’t horrible.
Prior threw 233 innings as a 21/22 year old
Dusty baker did him no favors to him and wood A lot of people were complaining that dusty was using these kids up and he did
I know a few games pitch count was 120s/130s
Dusty did him dirty fo sho
Billy Martin and the 1980A’s pitching staff. Cringeworthy.
There are some very attractive trade offers in this article. Its all conjecture but it got me drooling.
5 teams that could actually meet the Tigers’ unreal asking price for Tarik Skubal
Call me crazy, but I don’t hate the Dodgers offer.
Some interesting returns there and also goes to my earlier comment, somewhere on the board, about limited amount of teams getting involved in a Skubal deal.
While true, that it will be limited to certain teams, there are 3-5 that can make for a good return as shown in the article.
I’m with the Mets here but feel the Yankees and Mariners deals are mostly fineish. Wouldn’t take the Dodgers as I think Sasaki would wither here, though DePaula is nice. Pass on Phillies.
I actually really like Zyhir Hope even more then DePaula then again if it was Pages instead of either that wouldnt be bad either
It seems like what is perceived as good mechanics has completely changed in the last quarter of a century. I was a big prospect and college baseball fan back when Prior came out of USC and I very clearly remember everyone knobslobbering him over his pristine mechanics. But now from a quick Google search it seems that the modern perception is quite different. But I know that I’m not misremembering the talking points back then. I remember it fairly clearly.
You and I almost always see things in the same light. It’s puzzling to me that we are on such opposite ends of the spectrum with a potential Phillies trade.
I personally think that Painter, once fully recovered from Tommy John, is going to be a true ace.
I also have a MAJOR crush on Justin Crawford. I have been yearning for a great leadoff hitter for years, and I think this kid will be dominant in that role.
Saw something a darkhorse could be the Red Sox them having 2 of the top lefties 1-2 would be nuts
Marcelo Mayer(former #1 prospect for the Red Sox)
Jarran Durran (proven OF player)
Connelly Early(#6 prospect and a LHP starter)
Hayden Mullins(#18 prospect and another LHP prospect)
All but the Yankees offer look pretty good to me. I’d push for a few more lottery tickets as well but in terms of the core pieces not bad at all. Phillies, Dodgers and Mariners all look quite good. I saw Emerson play live last summer. For sure ML’er but to me he seemed like more of a plus regular upside guy rather than a Future star.
Just to say it said Boston might be involved that was what I would want in a Skubal trade from them.
2 solid pitching prospects(both leftys)
Durran who would be a nice addition
Mayer who was once the top prospect and would be a good to the INF
While not really related to this thread other than the dumbest section.
Evan Petzgold is really difficult to read, literally turning into Anthon Fenech I suspect way to much Mark G influence there.
End mini rant
With the potential rumored interest for Durren from Detroit this makes it a little more possibility and is actually a decent overall value(maybe Mayer could play 3b)
Mullins pitched in AA last year went 8-2 with a 2.21 ERA and a BA of .177 in his 2 losses he gave up 4 in 2.1 innings and gave up 1 in 5.2 innings so pretty dominant in AA
Early was dominant in AA and AAA last year and in the callup to the Red Sox pitched 4 games to a 1-2 record and a 2.33 ERA. 0 runs in his first game over 5 innings 1 run in the 2nd game over 5.1 innings and then game 3 2 runs in 4 innings in a loss. last game a loss to us giving up 2 runs over 5 innings
Both pitchers are leftys too
Another crazy idea is i heard the Cubs may call for Skubal
Give me PCA+ for him
Dream scenario is skubal and meadows for Skenes.
I love me some PCA and would be on board with that level of compensation. I think the Cubs realize that even though they gave up significant young assets to get Tucker who now may or may not be a long-term peace for them, that to compete in the National League you have to go at least three deep at starter that are tough tied to chew on. Scoob Horton and if they can get Imanaga back looking right is a lot closer to that ideal. They have a lot of good to very good hitters on that team but no truly great hitters besides Tucker who may leave and PCA May develop into one he’s pretty close already. I know they still have a couple of guys in the miners fairly close with good bats so maybe that’s their trade off in their mind. I don’t know I don’t mind this one much as Detroit’s in the same position of having a lot of good very good players but Superstar level guys is a bit of a stretch
