Red wings offseason

I will post this AGAIN:

But we are probably literally 2-3 years from having an actual competitive core and the assets to really make an all-in move that will allow the Wings to be good for a long time. It’s too early to be throwing away assets for a “win now” mentality, imo. They’re not a player or two away. Another 2-3 years when guys like Copp/Compher are gone and replaced with Danielson, ASP/Wallinder, Buchelnikov, NBM, Plante, Cossa/Augustine are able to join the roster and the Yzerman core makes a majority of the NHL team up and we’re still sitting on plenty of prospects and picks - that’s when you start going into ‘win mode’ now.

YES, we are realistically 2-3 years from being a legitimate contender that isn’t just a bubble playoff team and likely one-and-done in the playoffs. Sorry, I know you don’t want to hear that, but that’s the reality. I don’t know why the bar for so many of you guys is just to make the playoffs and somehow that’s success. I want a long-term contender for divisions and titles like the Lions and Tigers. That takes time to build. Especially in the NHL.

He CAN play center, but mostly plays Wing. Does give some flexibility when it comes to making lineups.

Still would’ve saved the money.

I mean, I would’ve rather landed a top 6 winger. It’d look at lot nicer to fill this LW2 with a good player than have Compher/Copp slide up. Let’s hope Stevie can get it done. Defense still brutal. But I’m not sure that changes this year. Might be a ride it out with these shitters and let all their contracts expire. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll have have good years and we can move one or two at the deadline.

It wait a second what happened to “just make a move”??

Also so cool. A 10 year rebuild. Longest in NHL history. Cool.

Teams went to the Conference finals. Became a bottom 5 team. And are now again. A top 4 team in the conference. All while the wings have been a horrible team.

How did those teams gett better? TRADES FREE & AGENCY!

Saying the kids arnt ready isnt realistic!

Most top NHL teams only have 5-8 DRAFTED players the rest are free agents or trades.

Wings havent made a SINGLE impactful move.

So what are we expecting Kasper, Mauzer, Danielson, MBN, Pellika cosa and Wallinder all to be top 2 line players???

Expect them all to be top 20 in the NHL?

Because thats what this team NEEDS. They have a crap load of middle/bottom 6 guys.

Im sorry i just dont see the path at all.

Because what are you gonna trade with in 2027?

If all the kids are up. You dont have as many prospects. And a 16-24th draft pick is worthless.

So why NOT make the trade now vs 2027

Also your Missing Mauzer. Or is he not ready yet either.

It’s Mazur. And I’m not missing him. It’s pretty clear that with the moves the Wings have made that they’re not expecting him to be physically ready/he will start in GR. Which makes sense considering he has played a total of 1 shift of NHL hockey and was called up due to injuries anyways. He could possibly win a job out of camp, and maybe JvR moves into more of that fill in role. But looking at what they’ve done, I’m guessing the expectation is that the Wings are at the very least making a contingency plan for real NHLers on the roster in the event that Mazur isn’t ready to go.

They’re not. FFS, Danielson is 20. ASP is 20. MBN is 19, Plante is 19. These are the top tier guys we’re waiting on. Danielson looked okay in GR, but he could definitely use another year to develop. ASP has played 2 entire games on North American ice. MBN has not even played a game outside of Europe. Plante is in the NCAA with Minnesota for the foreseeable future.

None of these guys are realistically ready to come to the team THIS year. I don’t know why this is so hard for you to understand. How many 20 year olds and younger do you think played a full NHL season last year?

The Wings are NOT ONE OR TWO PLAYERS AWAY FROM MAKING A DEEP PLAYOFF RUN, SO WHY DO YOU ALREADY WANT TO SELL THE FARM TO GET SWEPT IN THE FIRST ROUND?

Holland completely destroyed the brains of this fanbase. Playoffs mean shit. Build a team that has a solid young core and then start trading assets to get over the hump. Sustained success is the answer. It’s so funny you claim 16-24 draft pick is worthless, but at the same time crying about a move that was made with 16th and 17th draft picks to get Noah Dobson.

Holland destroyed the brains of the fanbase, nailed it!
One more thing about Holland. In order to keep the playoff streak alive. He would pay just about any price.
Now the league thinks Yzerman will do the same…NOT
Example, last year Buffalo wanted Kasper for Couzins. GM said no. Couzins had 2 or 3 pts the whole 1st round series and they didnt advance. Now they are stuck with his large salary. Thanks Stevie for not acting like Holland.

This is why im pointing you back on ignore. You dont bring nothing but being sarcastic jerk.

Wings got money doesn’t mean spend it on 4th liner. I agree landed top 6 winger. I thought trade was going to happen but keep wasting that money and it wont happen

Stop blaming Holland its coming up the 7th year.

Holland is the reason this is taking so long. Look at the NHL roster, contracts, and the farm system when Steve took over. That is Holland’s doing. He left this organization in one of the worst spots you can leave any organization in. Probably worse than Millen left the Lions.

The Wings literally had to rebuild an entire organization, from top to bottom, from scratch with almost zero talent outside of Larkin.

You cant keep blaming him. One look at Yzerman fa signings bust after bust after bust. Two he inherited larkin. Maybe after year 4 yes . It time to understand he isnt good at his job during the offseason. Draft still up in the air

I swear everyone in here wanting to trade the prospects would’ve traded Skubes and Greene 5yrs ago to make the play in smfh it’s comical

Yes, I can. Because it’s the reality of why the Wings are in this situation/why it’s taken so long.

I can’t imagine why any top-tier talent would want to come to a dead end like Detroit. I haven’t liked a lot of Steve’s FA moves, but I’m also sympathetic to the position he’s in. No one good wants to come here. Anyone mediocre wants to get overpaid to come here. The only guys who want to come here are aging vets who are from Michigan and want to come home. We got really lucky Cat wanted to come because it gave us Cat and Kane.

Uhh yeah, no shit? He inherited a “1C” who is a really a 2C. And is a shit leader. I’m not convinced the Wings will win anything with him wearing the “C”. Needed him down the stretch to make the playoffs and he turned into a ghost. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old rookie in Kasper was outperforming him on every level.

The fact that Yzerman had Raymond and Seider up by year 3 and contributing solidly is a HUGE win. Two drafted guys, a fake 1C, and a bunch of mediocre FAs are supposed to turn the team around in 4 years? Get real. 4 years is about the time it takes for a draft pick to hit the NHL if everything goes smooth. Raymond and Seider both made it much quicker than that and both should’ve won the Calder (Raymond was screwed). And now we’re seeing Edvinsson up early. Kasper up early and both playing well. Maybe not to Raymond/Seider levels, but they are strong contributors at an insanely young age. Steve is killing his 1st round picks so far.

It’s time to understand how far Yzerman has taken this team from where it was to where it is now. It’s like you refuse to acknowledge the reality of the situation Steve came into. Expecting a turnaround from absolute dumpster fire to competitor in 4 years is absurd. No team can do that - turning absolutely NO TALENT AT ANY LEVEL into a sustained contender in 4 years.

Please do because you bring NOTHING BUT MISERY. You ain’t happy unless you’re miserable and you just try to suck others into your misery…

Nah we are WELL past the “the farm system is Holland’s fault” timeframe. Well past. The farm system is cleared out from Holland’s guys.

Yzerman’s drafting outside the first round has been, for the most part, pretty ugly.

The team’s pro scouting is absolute garbage. The bottom six is exactly the same player, and the team continues to replace those guys with the exact same player year in and year out to no avail. The PK is in shambles and the guys they keep signing aren’t going to help at all. It’s a complete disaster.
