It sounds like its a bone plug issue which is I think cartilage. From what I can understand the ACL is fine but the cartilage is slow to heal. It could heal and be fine eventually but he could also need another surgery and its not like a tire replacement. Each time you go in there there is less likelyhood he’ll be the elite athlete he once was. So the uncertainty is scaring teams off I’m sure. Not an expert by any means just read some stuff to try to understand what is going on because usually an acl is like a year. And if he has to have surgery again its like possibly another 9 months or more depending. He and his agent FWIW say he doesn’t need another surgery..
That would be the perfect pick for me. I really hope that happens.
I don’t think the Lions will wait until 50 to get him. I also think it will be costly to move up for him because the guys on the board are as good as the players who were selected in the lower 3rd of the first round.
If they’re going to trade up for a DE, go get TJ Parker and don’t look back… I think he goes in the first 5 picks of the 2nd. Otherwise, stay put and take who’s available
I was on board with McCoy until I just read your post. I want someone on defense in round 2 that can make an immediate impact. Not someone that has to redshirt for a year.
About trading up, I’d protect 2027 picks at all costs - especially the first 3 rounds.
Going to ask a taboo question and duck!
but seriously… if lions traded their 2027 1st for one of the next picks and grabbed 2 defensive guys from the above list would you be upset? Give me pounds or the toledo safety and one of Rodriguez or a d end.. and i think i am good with it.
I’d be absolutely furious
The entire Lions front office should be fired if that happens.
Also, Matt Millen, is that you??
I just want drafting pleasure for the entirety of Saturday and haven’t thought beyond that. Don’t deprive me of that, Bradley.
You give me hope, to carry on… I like it.

I am no doctor and I don’t know what any of it means. A plug, pin, or screw it’s all the same to me. What scares me the most is that it is usually the Chiefs team doctor that makes the expert opinions at the combine. Well last year they took the Ohio St OT after he had major reconstructive knee surgery and he was fine after every team in the NFL had passed on him.
What? Really? I never knew this. That doesn’t seem fair, like the example you provided after.
Actually word out of KC is his career might not be as long as they’d hoped, though honestly I have trouble figuring out if it’s due to the injury or some mysterious off-the-field stuff going on.
Every team has their own doctor’s. It’s just he is considered the expert and his opinions are highly valued.
I’d be unbelievably pissed. Regardless of the outcome in this draft.
I mean how are we feeling about TJ Parker? Seems to be a really solid match here. Willing to trade up for him at a certain point? The most important thing here IMO is that we get a good starter. There is a reason Parker is falling but I think he checks a lot of boxes. He can hold the edge. Has at least some decent pass rushing chops. Seems to have good character.
That remains a mystery to me. It was not reported as medical but personal. I figure he lost a family member or something but nothing was ever explained for his absence.
He might be my preferred option, but I don’t know enough about some of the other guys to know if he’s actually my favorite.
