This thread has been very cathartic. The shock is wearing off and the real contribution he made to his family and beyond is what will stand the test of time. We should all aspire to that.

After reading those texts, along with how much I got to know Charlie through this board…I am not surprised that he was in real life, indeed, one of the most interesting men in world, it 110% checks out.

Always hard to lose a friend. May Gods peace wrap around all who knew him - especially his wife, children and grand-children. His legacy will be known through them and on a lighter side his epic posts here. Rest in Peace Bols, you will be missed.

I will simply say I wish strength for his family at this terrible time and that the Den family will miss him.

Just got back to the hotel and read through this entire thread again. What a phenomenal man - I had no idea how incredible his life outside of the Den was. I’ve never cried so much over a man I’ve never met in person. What an impact he had on me, and doing it via just an online fan forum is nothing short of phenomenal.
I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said. Sending as much love and prayers to his family as I possibly can. Love and miss you Bols!

This is exactly how I feel today. I have cried several times for a man I never met in person.
I may have never met this great man, but I definitely had a great respect for him after interacting with him and seeing how much he adored his granddaughter.
He treated people so well here, and his love of the Lions and Tigers was obvious.
I am really going to miss him.. particularly in the Tigers game threads.. I already miss the tiger chomping on the bat when the Tigers win…
