The NFL fined #Lions LB Jack Campbell $14,871 for roughing the passer

Lol

You might be somewhat correct, the O-lineman to the right, his foot does kick JC’s leg but it appears that JC might have already been falling down from stepping on the O-lineman to the left’s foot.

Yep. It’s not like they haven’t been to court for game fixing. That was their defense. To this day they’ve never addressed, “game fixing”.

Good grief this is a dumb argument. I implore you to watch the video

There was no contact. Campbell didn’t step on 68’s foot, 68 didn’t trip him. I don’t think 68 even touched Campbell with his hand. It is clear and obvious. Watch it in slow motion.

The O-lineman to the left looks like he’s getting pushed back (I think by Alim) and has to try and is back-pedaling a bit and kicks his right foot out ( inadvertently) and Jack steps on it or gets tripped by it, hard to tell since it’s out of the frame at that point. Regardless whether it was intentional or not, Jack was tripped up.

It may have just been the turf monster…still shouldn’t be fined.

Yeah, I’m sure the Lions will appeal the fine and the league will realize that Jack inadvertently lost his footing and there’s nothing natural about a free-running defender to bounce off his knee a yard before trying to tackle a player.

He might have been tripped by #86. Difficult to tell.

I agree.

That right leg of Jack’s looks over extended more than a natural movement of a defender running-in freely. Like he tried to plant and push-off from it and it never planted firmly in the ground, like it possibly rolled off a defenders foot.

Probably, yes. He has to make an effort in some way to avoid the penalty.

I’m not saying this is great or ideal, but I think it’s well-established that they’re going to err on the side of protecting the QB.

No one is questioning the penalty call The question is the dam fine he was tripped an hit QB low the 15 yards was the penalty the fine is just BS

He needs to ask for a refund

Correct, you have to be in control of your faculties at all times.

Is that like tripping over your own feet? I guess it’s a matter of how you say it.

You see things through your little hate glasses towards Jack, my opinion isn’t skewed one way or the other. If there was any evidence that he tripped over his own feet, I’d say so…but there’s none. And even if he did, it would be dumb to cast shadow on Jack for it unless he’s the only player that this happened to. There’s a reason why there’s a term for this, " the turf monster" as @stephenboyd57 already pointed out. I know you think Barnes can walk on water but I’m sure he’s probably tripped over the turf a few times in his football career as well.

They go hand in hand. The league is serious about protecting its QBs. It’s to the point of ridiculous with some of the “contact to the head and neck area” when it’s just a tap as the defender is trying to block a pass, but still, the league has a very specific emphasis on protecting the QB. In the NFL Campbell will be expected to fall to the side or try to brace himself without contacting the QB below the waist.

I like to give you guys a little of your own medicine when I get the chance. Most on here seem to think Jack Campbell “walks on water” so when I say something viewed as negative you all are up in arms, kinda like how I defend Barnes. A lot of what Campbell does gets a pass for whatever reason, like Anzalone last year, same scenario. I guess my problem with both of those scenarios is, they both come at the expense of Barnes losing snaps, experience and salary. I am in the mind set of, here we go again, another player will be given numerous snaps and his mistakes will be tolerated until he gets better, while Barnes is put on the back burner. Facilitating a players growth is fine, however it should not be done at another players expense. That is what happened with Anzalone and now it appears MCDC, is going to do the same with Jack Campbell and in the mean time excuses are made as to why Barnes can’t get on the field. The thing that pisses me off the most about those scenarios is it is made to appear that Barnes is at fault when he is Not.

Barnes lost snaps to Campbell the last game and that may be for the rest of the year while they developed Campbell. According to MCDC, Jack Campbell will get more snaps, he is not good at SAM so where are they going to play him,MIKE. Has he earned those snaps over Barnes, I say no, but that doesn’t matter, just like Anzalone’s snap stayed the same no matter his play for the first year and a half he was here. Jack Campbell appears to be getting the same treatment to me , and again it is coming at Barnes’ expense.
Those scenarios may cause me to have a negative view of Anzalone and Campbell’s ability to play, no doubt, but that doesn’t change the scenarios.

It wasn’t even the worst fine. Look at some of these ridiculous fines this week:

The NFL is out of control.

Well this is another huge miss on your part. I’ve seen nobody here that tirelessly defends Jack. Everyone I’ve seen has understood he’s a rookie and has had some struggles…but nobody here other than you cares about how many snaps Jack, AA, or Barnes gets. The difference between you and the rest of the world is that we only care that the Lions win, not who gets snaps and who doesn’t. Most are not here because they are a fan of just one player.
