For how over the top the deal is it makes sense for all parties.
The Mets get Skubal. Obvious fit. Cohen has more money than god and wants a title.
The Tigers get THE guy at the moment and have him for four years prior to FA. They could sell him off in three and get close to what they’re giving up.
The Pirates would have Griffin, Chandler, Hernandez, Clark, Rainer, Tong, Williams, Reimer, Florentino, Barco, Johnson hitting all in a two ish year range. It gives them a shot to actually have a two to three year run.
I guess. But Clark and perhaps even Rainer is a number one in at least a few organizations. Tong is probably a number two prospect in quite a few. And I can get the writer’s POV if he thinks both KM and McLean were deemed untouchable. Mets would have to pony up more to make things seem fair. I’d agree with that.
Skenes is the best very young pitcher since at least Doc Gooden and probably Sandy Koufax. There are no Untouchables especially given he’s got four more years of control too, really cheap. He has a built-in fan base for draw and a draw from non baseball for his girlfriend. Absolutely no way if you held on to that kind of asset somebody tells you no we’re not going to give you our best minor leager but here have a whole bunch of guys are going to be possibly pretty nice players Maybe. Come on no way. that’s a terrible terrible trade. Wackadoodle.
51 million over 3 years for a guy with 4.80 era last year. Even lost the closer job. He has been lights out in years prior though. Guess they are betting on that coming back
@HSVLion HSVLion im laughing at you at all. I just dont see the tigers. If their not extending Skubal why bother to sign anyone who actually could help the tigers
