Tyrell Crosby throwing cold water on the Lions' current regime

My Dad went through that with myasthenia gravis. Got worked up by neurologists, they ruled out seizures and stroke. Then shrugged their shoulders. If they had entered his symptoms into WebMD MG would have popped up. Took a decade for his diagnosis.

I’m still angry.

I came out worse than I went in.
Of course, it was an acceptable risk…and one of the disclaimers.

After I did that post detailing the timeline… I started to wonder the same thing!!!

First…. skipping OTAs while “ghosting” the team… showing up to camp way out of shape… having a minor soft tissue injury that is an easy way to miss practice and lifting… then reporting back pain during a time that he wasn’t having contact or lifting heavy (squats, deadlifts, cleans, etc.)… just seems like it is possible that he had the back injury away from the team… and then hid it from the team to be sure he could land on IR instead of the NFI.

We’ll likely never know… but will be interesting how the team responds (if at all).

That does seem like a likely scenario. But if he successfully pulled it off, why bad mouth the team after?

There’s a lot of people making a lot of money off these athletes through college and pros

Having nothing to do with in comparison to others since the billionaire owners and millions paid coaches are thst much like us either.

The college and nfl chews up and spits out plsyers. If Cosby has a case , I’m
Glad he’s making it.

Yep - doctors are fallible period

Or do we? Did the putative training camp injury also cause the degenerated disc? I’m no doctor and I didn’t stay in a Holiday Inn last night, but Crosby’s issues would seem to a body-breaking-down condition, not an injury.

Birkett: "Crosby continued rehab into October, but when his back failed to show any improvement, he traveled to California to visit noted spine specialist Dr. Robert Watkins.

“Watkins, whose clientele includes Peyton Manning and Rob Gronkowski, told Crosby the discs in his lower back had degenerated to the point that his back was collapsing on the left side.”

Whatever hurtful words Crosby endured, Holmbell paid the man the most he was entitled to and they wisely didn’t want a bad look or the distraction when they were trying to build a team and a culture. Crosby is lucky Judge Judy didn’t get involved… :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face:

All I will say is he got paid an is pissed that he never got a big deal but the facts say he was only looking for another deal . When he figured Lions had no interest in a new deal he started missing an complaining. They even said at time it was minor hammy, he likely had been promised something from M an Q an now he was shit out of luck . Time to start plan B

I agree.

Quinn and Patricia came from a team that made it standard operating procedure to hide every single concussion until the the effects of them became undeniable. I can see why a former player like MCDC would have moved on from some of the staff that those guys brought in. Any player that says they preferred that regime over the current one doesn’t deserve to be heard.

3 out of 4 ain’t bad

I was thinking “two out of three ain’t bad”!

If on the internal side of things where they are talking about mismanagement by their previous medical staff, I doubt they address it at all, because it’s a potential legal issue.

Also too, I’m sure the abrupt firing of the previous trainer was not isolated to Crosby. There must have been a plethora of issues they had and did not like how he handled them or communicated the issues to the staff.

Another thing about this… Why is this article behind a paywall? This isn’t an issue with Birkett specifically but in general, you have these very “hard hitting” articles that half the people can’t read, so exactly how important is it?

Also, how did he not take the time to ask the Lions staff about this? It sounds like a very one sided complaint with no opposition and basically comes off as click bait or at least a one sided story when you know it’s not that.

Kind of a weird hit piece in a way…

Also also of course this comes out the night before they put on pads for training camp… there has to be something to the timing of this

You know the Lions players say they don’t care about Hard Knocks…but apparently Dave Birkett does.

Looks like he’s trying to set up tomorrow’s presser for some grandstanding.

This is my initial reaction to what I’m reading here. I don’t subscribe to the freep… .so I’m basing my reaction on the first several posts with info from the article.

If I’m off base rhen so be it…but if not, then I’m glad he is showing the Lions and fans what he’s about. This sounds like a contrived hit piece to get some self serving spotlight time.
