The 80’s were the high point of Metal bands and big hair. So generally you tend to see an overlap of the two.
I’m curious now - Even though I think labels like this are silly…… what are you calling a metal band and what are you calling a hair band?
Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Guns and Roses Def Leppard and White Snake are all considered some of the best known hair bands of the 80’s.
People get so caught up in trying to separate bands into categories that we hear terms like. Hard Rock, Acid Rock, Heavy Metal, Hair Metal, Punk Rock, etc
Where do you classify bands like KISS, Def Leppard, Poison, Great White, Van Halen, Warrant, Bon Jovi and many of the other bands like them?
By the way Rolling Stones magazine has ranked these bands and many others on their lists as the best Hair Bands and the Best Metal Bands of all times.
Are they Heavy Metal?

Where I come from, we only called them shite.
That is a complex question, but if I were to try, I’d say that metal music is indie rock for C.H.U.D.s
Hair music is really more intentional. It borrowed from metal, but it also borrowed just as much from glam and probably has a stronger lineage with Nickelback and Puddle of Mud than it does with sepultura or black sabbath

Where does Skid Row, Motley Crue, and Ratt fall in?
I’m still on a post show high. One of the best weekends of my life. I introduced my kiddo and her boyfriend to the scene on Friday in GA, and upgraded myself to pit on Saturday to have my face completely melted off.

This is absolutely bananas. If you’ve ever been in a band and tried to make a song work, this is pure magic.
They had fired their producer, or vice versa, but holy crap. They made an amazing record.

I never liked, personally, what passes for heavy metal, hair bands etc. To each their own. By the time that stuff was popular, I was into punk and new wave.

Used to shoot pool at a melting pot type of place. Always played it in TouchTunes while closing down the place.
